Charge 3 is constantly vibrating and screen going on and off

All of a sudden the Fitbit keeps vibrating then the screen keeps switching between click face and the notification screen. Had to take it off. The charge is at 42% so it’s not battery life.

I am really disappointed to say I have been having the same problem.  I have done the restart and it still is not working right.  I just go this in January.  I cannot return it to Amazon.  Is there anything you can do?

Best Answer

I followed you directions but when it came back on it continued to vibrate and cycle through the screens. I have plugged it back on the charger and it is now quiet with a vertices white line across the middle of the screen. What should I try now?

The real shame is that this issue has been occuring for over a year and still no one has fixed the software. Constant vibrating, going from time to notifications, inaccurate stair climbing, distance, and the stopwatch won't stop. I have been reading the thread dating back since June of 2019 through 23 pages until the present. Come on really? Can't be fixed just give out new ones that will probably do the same?

Very disappointing

Alas, this didn't work and now my 9 month old Charge 3 seems to be unrevivable.  The same thing happened last September and I bought this new Charge 3.  I've been a loyal FitBit user since December 2011.  What to do now?  A Charge 4?

Mine started doing the same thing! I did a hard reset multiple times, changed the face clock, and even rebooted my phone. It eventually worked for a short time. Then the battery completely drained over night and charging doesn't seem to be working. Not very hopeful.

Yes, this is what my Fitbit is doing.  What should I do about it? I've tried rebooting it etc...

So, I've tried the 15 second reboot and the Fitbit went crazy,  vibrating constantly and changing between screens. I've now managed to switch it off and will try to contact Customer services in the morning.  I purchased this in August last year so think it is still under warranty.  Thank you.

I just got a Fitbit from a friend and it started acting up in this way. Vibrating between the clock and "screen wake/notification. Screen. Tried the hard reset and reboot on the Fitbit. Can't use the hard reset anymore, because it does the switching back and forth when I hold the button down. Has there been any resolution? This is my second Fitbit charge 3. My first one was NOT water resistant and failed after some light floating in the water...

This 15 second method did not work as you described. I held for about 9 seconds, got the smiley face. Then it went black. The clock popped up again and we're back to the same problem.

No resolution.

Hi - mine did exactly as you described in both your messages!  In the end, the constant vibrating drove me crazy and I so did another 15 second reboot procedure and took it off the charger, but didn't attach it again, so it was turned off (if that makes sense?!).  Next morning, I plugged it in to the charger to see if things had improved, but it was completely dead.  So I rang Fitbit Customer Support and they said that it was irreparable.  As it was still under warranty (they give 2 years warranty now), they emailed me a 'replacement offer', giving the option to either replace my Charge 3, or upgrade to a different Fitbit, with a 50% discount (although this doesn't include the new Charge 4).   I've decided to replace mine with a Versa 2.  This was all sorted out very quickly and, if you don't have time to ring Customer support, they have a good online Chat function.  Hope this helps and you get it sorted out soon as it's very frustrating!

Yes - contact Fitbit Customer support - I did with mine and they were very helpful and sent me an email to have mine replaced.

I don't think I can get warranty if I bought it from a friend? I'll still try though

Mine too and customer service couldn't trouble shoot. Offered me a small discount on a new one. This is my 3rd fit bit in 3 years. I like having them but they all crap out.

I'm done!!!!!!!

They couldn't troubleshoot my device and it was out of warranty by 6 months. 25% discount is nice, but these devices don't last long anymore.

I had this same issue today. Got my Fitbit as a Christmas present in 2018. Used it on an off, but started using full time since the quarantine. First I noticed that the touchscreen stopped working. I contacted Fitbit and they gave me some tips. Didn’t work. They offered to replace it, but sadly my warranty had already expired.
Last night the battery dropped from 100 to about 45%. I went to bed and woke up with a lifeless Fitbit. I charged it and it took about 3 hours to get a full battery. I completed my exercise about an hour ago, sat down to watch some tv and the Fitbit starts to vibrate for about 30 seconds. Honestly, it was scary. It was also hot.

Now, Fitbit , what’s the sense in all of us complaining about this model if you’re not going to improve it. I’m so mad. You’re replacing it for those who have a warranty, and everybody else has to buy a new one, when it glaringly obvious that this model has a fault! Do better Fitbit. This is unacceptable!

Wait, they give 2-yr warranty’s now? I contacted them maybe 6 weeks ago and by that time my Fitbit was 1 1/2 yrs old (if at all), and I was told to get a new one with a rebate. I can’t afford that now....😕
