Charge 3 saying Sleep is not tracked

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have had the Charge 3 for 5 days and even though my Fitbit states it is not taking sleep,  my android is collecting data from my sleep patterns????.

I tried restarting the fit bit but putting it on the charge and holding the button down didn't start the reboot process. It went to fitbit pay. Any ideas on why that is?

so disappointing that Fitbit aren't doing anything to resolve this.... or communicate to their userbase with updates (if it is being worked on by the developers).

I'm a new Fitbit user but currently would not recommend it to anyone

From my experience it depends on the elapsed time between waking up until the sleeping time is shown on the tracker's display. I guess that this information ist not transferred between tracker and app directly, but goes from the tracker via the app to the Fitbit server first and then back to the app and from there to the tracker.

It's always the same, regardless the status of syncing with the app.
In Dutch it states "slaap niet geregistreerd" in other words sleep not
registered.

I'm very disappointed in the response from Fitbit on this forum. People
started mentioning this issue over a year ago and stil no acceptable answer.

Did you call them and explain what you are talking about to them, they might just have a answer to your concerns

It might we worth trying, however a year ago a moderator of Fitbit stated on 24th of November 2018 that "We’re aware of it and are working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible."

Looks like they know that iPhone users do have this issue, it simply does not work.

Dear Moderator,

It's been a year now... Any update on this known bug?

Best Answer

I contacted support.... and the answer is just embarrassing (for a company the size of Fitbit):

"Thank you for providing the link from our community about the Sleep not Tracked. We continue to identify a permanent fix for the issue and we'd like to apologize for any inconvenience that this issue may have caused. Also, since another department is working for the issue, we are unable to provide a time frame of when it will be resolved.

With regard to the sleep score, you may see your nightly sleep score in the Fitbit app for better insight into your sleep quality. For more details about Sleep Score, you may visit this article. "

It's been a year that their product has a bug, and they couldn't be bothered to ask the other Dept for an ETA, or inform them that it continues to annoy users. Internal communication anyone??

Granted this bug isn't one that stops you from using the Charge, but still ... It's a clear indication of their Development team, priority setting, customer care, quality control, etc.

It's the last Fitbit product I'll buy (maybe post Google merger I'll reconsider).

I just went and bought the Withings Body+ scale instead of the Aria 2. Can't trust the Aria not to have some bug that takes a year to fix ...

Well we are now December 25, 2019, my son offered me the watch as  Mothers Day gift and the BUG is still not fixed ... AND Fitbit refuses to exchange it for one that works.  I am so not impressed.

Just wanted to know the status. I just got the Charca 3 for Christmas and my watch says sleep not tracked but its all in my phone app. I see this post about working on a resolution was from over a year ago...

Yes well, my watch will note 1 or 2 hours of sleep when I've slept 8
hours. Nothing works.

Well, I guess I'm not alone in this problem.  After a few issues with the way my Charge 3 registers/doesn't register my sleep, I thought all was okay - until today.  Granted, my iPhone was a bit confused because I didn't sync yesterday's activity at night.  But I have followed all the Help suggestions (note to Fitbit:  please update your Help topic content when you update the app!) with no success.  At least I found you all and now know it's not me, it's the device.  Please fix this!

Oh it's most certainly not just you. Mine was a Mother's Day gift from my
son when I raised him to not spend money on me while he's still a student
but he REALLY wanted to get me this watch because he's studying to be a
registered nurse and he worries that I don't sleep well. I feel so bad for
him that the very first expensive gift he bought me turned out to be
defective and Fitbit REFUSED to take it back or exchange it. Not at all
impressed.

They offered a refund on mine

My thinking is that something new is in the works. I’ve been seeing the SE editions as low $119.99, it’s as though they’re clearing them out. Fitbit has been sold to google as of November 2019 to compete with Apple. Fitbit isn’t as big people like to think and they are dwarfed by Apple with regards to wearable tech. Google bought Fitbit for 2 Billion

This does not seemed to have been fixed and its 2020...  any ETD on it?  It is annoying that it's a function on the watch but does not collect the data.  Also, is there thought to add a notes section or headache tracking to the calendar?

Charge 3 always shows "sleep not tracked" just above the weight I entered when I got the fitbit.  My iPhone always tracks my sleep after it syncs.  It is now April 10, 2020.  Is this a permanent bug or is my fitbit broken?

Same here. All Fitbit has managed to say is "They are working on the
issue." I would have thrown it out a long time ago if it weren't for the
fact my son gave it to me as a Mothers Day gift last year because he was
worried about my sleep quality being as was tired all the time. They
never once offered to replace it or refund him. Not a FitBit fan at all.

Hi Jbilodeau and rocky-one-four,

Try a couple of things.  Close the app and reopen, then sync.  Try rebooting your phone and then sync.  t I just did with the app open and then scrolling down to the sleep item on my Charge, which came up with my sleep time.  However, I've taken advantage of the free 3 months of Fitbit Premium, which seems to make a huge difference in the speed at which my Charge and app sync. Whether this also affects the updating of my sleep information will remain a mystery until I cancel the Premium in June.

FYI: Jbilodeau, I also use my Fitbit to track my sleep patterns, which is the reason I decided to try Premium.  While I find the additional information useful (the data is broken down into Time Asleep, Deep and REM, and Restoration), it's not enough for me to pay 9.99/month for that information alone.

Both of you please stay safe, milasmom
