Charge 3 screen went blank

Got this yesterday and the screen is already black and won’t turn on. Very very disappointed, looks like it’s a common issue. I’d rethink getting this, a shame it’s so common for the anticipation of this...

I purchased my Charge 3 in December 2018.  This month I am having the screen loss problems.  I do get the screen for one screen shot after following the instructions to plug in press the button for a smiley face (but no screen), & replug and press the button for a flash of screen & smiley face.  After over 15 repeats over past 3 days the best I have got is one further screen before it goes black.  That screen begins jumping to the left so there is only a three quarter screen with loss of display on left side then disappears.  Essentially this has rendered it no use as a watch or keeping track of my running time, but it does still give me stats in the background.  When is the time to draw the line and have it replaced with a functioning version?

Hello! I went through same experience! I contacted Fitbit with problems Fitbit tried to fix the issues and tried troubleshooting with me, finally they now are sending me a new Fitbit charge 3. I would contact them and ask them to send you the same option. Good luck 👍 I’m sure Fitbit will accomplish what is needed.

You do NOT need to REPEAT the same info we've already had repeated to us a million times on this thread! And I don't care if it worked for you! So annoying to see "it worked for me... it worked for me" ad nauseam. JC get a life.  If you have NEW INFO then share it but saying the same thing someone already said is a waste of your time and mine as I scroll through 1,500 of the same **ahem** msg.

Thanks L.  And I should add I did the clock face thing twice.  Got a few seconds of a clock face both times before blackness descended.  I will pop into my supplier as it should still be under warranty or get them to try to fix it and free up time I do not have for these repeated processes.

I suspect it must be a software issue.  The supplier I purchased mine from replaced it without any issues.  They seemed to know the problem but without giving any further information.  So far the replacement is working fine. Fingers crossed🖖

It's been three and half months with my replacement Charge 3 and it's display has now gone blank.

I again contacted the support website (1.877.623.4997) and described my situation and trouble shooting steps.
They claimed that mine is a unique problem and were surprised to hear that a second unit had the same problem. They wanted the defective unit AND the charging cable back for analysis BEFORE they would issue another replacement. After getting a supervisor online, they are sending me another replacement.
I can't believe that with all of the folks here that have had issues, they think mine was "Unique"!

Footnote: They say the warranty is not extended to replacement units and the original warranty will expire in one year.

So update from September post: 3rd Charge 3 is also black screen and this one no longer syncs with my phone. Three Charge 3's in less than a year all black screened, where as my wife has a Charge 2 and it is still working great after 3 years of regular use, the one feature I liked about the Charge 3 was that it was waterproof, great for my kayak and swimming trips. Guess for Christmas I'll be getting a Charge 2!

Hey @MarreFitbit , I have had the dark fitbit charge 3 dark face many many times.  I used to just change the clock as directed and it always came back on.   Now, I can't get that to work.  I looked up one other suggestion (put it on the charger, hold for 15 seconds, take off charger, then put back on charger) and it is not working.   I am frustrated as I use this as my watch, my workout tracker, step tracker, etc.  What else can I do to get the charge 3 working?  I have to admit, I thought fitbit would have a better quality product .. at least put out a release that would fix it after this long of time.

I just called customer support and was told there was nothing that could be done for me because I am 3 months out of warranty  (except a 25% coupon for a new device).   The guy I was talking to should have been able to see I have had problems with this device for 10 months, but ....  FITBIT does not back their products.

I am thinking y'all sent some but to my device to force me to get a new one.

I will tell my FITBIT story to everyone I see.
