These are my instructions on what I figured out to do

To find Exercise app > Run on the Fitbit Charge 3

· From your clockface swipe left - You will see two options;
Exercise & Relax

· Tap Exercise – you will then be able to access the exercise
options such as Walk, Run, Swim, etc.

o *If you don’t see the exercise that you’re looking for you’ll need to
go into the App on your phone and turn on Auto-Recognize for the ones you
want. See below fpr step-by step instructions

· Touch the exercise that you want to do and it will give you two
options: Start & Set Goal

· Touch Start and you’ll get the Lets Go option, touch this and it
will start tracking your heart rate, calories burned, and time/distance
that you’ve exercised.

TO STOP AND GET OUT OF THE EXERCISE

· Click the button on the side of the Fitbit once and you will
Pause your exercise. Touch the arrow that shows on the screen to restart.

· Click the button on the side of the Fitbit twice and you will get
two options; Finish & Return.

· Select Finish to end the exercise – Select Return to go back to
the exercise

BASICS THAT I JUST FIGURED OUT AFTER ABOUT 6 WKS

If the screen is dark - Click that button on the side of the unit once and
it will wake it up.

If there is something on the screen – Click the button on the side once to
go back one screen. Click it twice to get back to the clockface.

*To turn on Auto-Recognize for exercises on your phone App

· Open the Fitbit App on your phone.

· On the Main Page or Dashboard touch the Exercise icon (an orange
figure running with an orange circle around it)

· This will take you to the Exercise screen showing all of your
exercises over the past days.

· Touch the Cog Wheel in the top right of the screen. Now you will
be on the Exercise Goals screen where you can set each exercise to either
appear on your Fitbit (Auto-Recognize) or not. You can also set goals for
each.

· Under Auto-Recognized Exercises, touch an exercise and on the
screen that appears turn Auto-Recognize off/on and touch Save in the upper
right corner. It Auto-Recognize is on you will see it when you touch
Exercise on your Fitbit.

I spent quite a lot of time this morning, trying to stop my Fitbit Charge 3 from recording my treadmill workout after I'd finished. After tapping, swiping, pushing in every possible combination, I came to this forum and started reading other users' posts. None of them helped, because I couldn't even get it to the point where their instructions started. When I got home, I did sync it with the app on my tablet and got some sort of readout, but only 30 minutes worth, whereas the workout I was trying to record was an hour. Having taking the device off to sync it, I looked at it carefully. D'oh! When I thought I was pressing the button, I was actually pushing the non-button side! So now I wonder: Am I the only person who wears their FitBit on their left arm? If not, shouldn't there be a setting so the display would be right-side up when viewing on the left arm in the normal watch-checking position... with the button on the *hand* side, not the "arm" side? That seems to me the logical orientation: It's much more awkward to reach over your watch to press a button on the arm side (blocking the display) than to press a button on the hand side.

And since you say you're happy to take suggestions, it would be really nice to put out an update for the Charge 3 so the display could be set to "always on." I know other models have it, but other than this feature and the mysterious nature of the controls, this one suits me fine.

Oh, and while we're at it, another poster mentioned the dimness of the display. I've set the brightness on mine so it's quite visible, but the text on this site... not so much. You're not alone, of course -- far too many websites lately think pale gray text is the coolest thing. For those of us with vision issues, it is not. If you can't figure out how to use full 100% black text in your design, at least build in an option so we can switch it for ourselves. (There is a high-contrast extension for Chrome, which I use often, but it also makes images high-contrast, which is not helpful -- if individual websites had their own controls, it would be most appreciated.)

Thanks.

Thank you so much! This is really helpful. May I suggest Fitbit to find a way simplifying how to end an exercise? A cheapo tracker I used before use long tapping the screen then tap again to end, it's much easier and more intuitive.

Hi, for my last two runs I have successfully managed to stop my fitbit by pressing the side button twice in quick succession, the finish flag appears on the screen and I have been able to press it and end it.  I hooe this helps.x

As I mentioned on my earlier post all you have to do to stop and exercise is click the button the side twice.  If you click it once it will pause, click it again and it will give you the option to Finish.  Touch finish and it will finish.  Easy peasy once you know how.

I followed the instructions listed. It’s not working. I stopped the exercise and it’s still running.

I can’t get it to shut off or reset. I guess it will just have to run down.

Thats strange, you do have to press the button twice very quickly, one
after the other, but this has always worked for me, hope you get it sorted.

You got it to where you could touch Finish and it's still running? When
you touch Finish it should say Nice Work and then show all of the stats
from the exercise; time, distance, heartrate, calories burned, etc etc
etc.

Maybe when you meant to hit finish you accidentally touched Return??
