For some reason my Charge 2 is not displaying my text messages anymore..  It will show when a call comes through.  Any particular reason this is happening and how do I fix it?

SOLVED (or at least a work around):

I was getting all the notifications except for text messages. After trying everything as far as uninstalling/reinstalling, rebooting, etc. I figured it had to be something besides the Fitbit Charge 2 since I was getting all other notifications.

I was using the default Android Messages app for texting and suspected it had to do with the app. I decided to make my default texting app Messenger and now I'm getting my text notifications.

Since I don't really like the Messenger app, I'll be looking for something else, but figured this may help some of you if you were having the same issue.

I've been having this same problem for months now. (I posted a separate thread on it, and I've posted on Twitter and have gotten responses, but no actual help or estimate of the time for a fix from Fitbit support).

When the problem started over the summer, I would see the sender's name but not the message. That persisted for weeks. The next problem was with phone calls. I would get a notification that a call was coming, but it would have the wrong caller information; usually, it would be a previous recent caller. That problem is still persisting. And now, most recently, I don't get any kind of notification when I get a text, not even the name.

The Fitbit Support twitter team has been useless -- "We don't know when this will be fixed, thanks for your patience." I'm not patient, and will likely not buy another Fitbit.

HESCORES72 - Thanks to your post I was able to get (at least) my Fitbit (Charge 2) notifying me of texts. I approached the issue as a SMS messaging issue vs. a Fitbit issue. What worked for me is the following:

Android Phone:

Settings

Apps & Notifications

Permissions

SMS

Fitbit - Although on; I turned it off & then back on to receive text notifications.

I've solved the text notification issue, at least for now. I'm on Android, and I switched my default SMS app from the stock Google app to Textra. I'm now getting full text alerts on my Fitbit again.

Hi everyone, sorry for the delay in my reply.

Let me help you with your text messages. Additionally to trying the suggestions shared by other users about changing the default text message app you can try the following:

  • Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  • Restart your phone and restart your device
  • Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  • You can find additional suggestions here.

Now if your issue is that the text content isn't being displayed on your device then this is a different scenario. If this is the case please know that our team is aware about this a looking for a fix for all users.

Let me know how it goes.

I’ve been faithful to my FitBit. But I can’t tolerate the problems. Apple Watch is calling my name. Bye Felicia
