how long is the Charge 2 supposed to last until it dies? only leas than 2 years? so every 2 years, we are supposed to buy a new tracker? expensive! 😂

I agree it is too fragile. Mine cracked just outside of warranty. I paid 150 for it. This is an expensive tracker to have a one year life span.

What is clear is that these cracks are happening not due to any external accidents/stress, but due to internal malfunction. It is ridiculous that Fitbit won't replace these for free - and downright criminal that Fitbit - now at least well aware of the defect (in case it wasn't before) - is still trying to entice people to purchase the same phone!! (by offering this discount).

Mine is still under warranty

If it's still under warranty you can contact support and they should send you a replacement. If youbare outside of the warranty you can contact them and they will give you a token 25% off another fitbit device.
Keep in mind, if you get a replacement Charge 2 sent to you, the warranty will not be extended and you will, quite likely, be back in the same boat in a year or so.

this really seems like a big scam, wherein Fitbit is pushing 25% off to try to onload a bunch of charge 2s they know to be defective before the charge 3 comes out - so they are not stuck with a pile of garbage old charge 2s with defective screens, and can be nearly guaranteed that anyone getting the charge 2 now will be in the same boat in just over a year and need to (again) buy another one.

Pathetic really.

Yes, they will do that. But I waa able to read your post via my email.
I have a samsung gear fit2 pro smartwatch. It does most of the same things as the Charge 2 and it is a smart watch, so you can answer texts with pre programmed replies, among other things.

Thank you for the suggestion. When mine finally dies (I bought screen covers so no water will get in), I plan on buying a different brand. Since I have a Samsung phone this might be a good option.

It's a very seamless fit. The samsung health app will conect with your samsung watch, just like fitbit, there is the samsung gear app you need to install. I feel it's more user friendly. You can change the look of your watch face, edit what you see, like I like to have the current weather right on my watch. You also don't have to flip through a half dozen screens to get to the one you want, all the important info is on the first screen. And it is a much better touch screen than the fitbit.

Thank you for the suggestion! I am going to look into that as a replacement instead. Only a matter of time until the crack on my fitbit gets more out of hand. I am certainly not going to be supporting fitbit after this....

Hello guys! I hope you are doin' great!
We appreciate your feedback, it's very important to us to have your thoughts in regards our product and your customer support interactions. Fitbit is always trying to provide great products and customer experience. Each scenario is different, but I think that you can use the option available according to your warranty information if it is needed, as our support team checks all the cases and looks for the best way to help you out.
To be honest with you folks, I don't how Fitbit product last, but based on my experience, I can tell you that certainly more than 2 years. I have had a Charge 2 which I wear almost daily, for normal use and for workouts, and it has worked perfect. The screen is scratched a little bit because I have hit it a few times against doors or to the walls, but that has been my fault, and as happens with a phone screen for example, they get damage by doing that. But as I mentioned, the screen still good. Now about replacing them, that is not possible, that is why our team review your options under warranty to try to get you back on track.
Thanks for your understanding.

I am shocked that Fitbit is not addressing this manufacturing defect. I am also frustrated with the responses the mediators keep giving. I really wish that I had a Fitbit that didn’t just suddenly crack overnight while I was sleeping. But, unfortunately I am one of the many that has received a faulty product. Does anyone else have issues with it freezing as well. I’m not even sure if I get an accurate step count. I will definitely be moving on to a different brand.

Many of us, if I understand correctly, were willing to foot the bill of having our Charge 2's repaired post-warranty. What I don't understand is how this is not possible...seems a bit fishy to me. How does Fitbit not have the ability to repair products for a fee? It is extremely wasteful. We are all trying to reduce our ecological footprint. GET WITH THE TIMES!
Fitbit expects us to be lured to purchase a "new and improved" gadget by some magical 25% off discount. Guess what? I am not buying into it. The Charge 2 that I purchased was near $200...and while that is not much to some, I assure you I rarely ever buy anything that expensive. I expect that the product would have lasted the normal wear and tear of at least the year and a half I have had it. I especially expect that it wouldn't just develop a pretty significant crack in it overnight. They have got to be out of their minds to think that I will ever waste my hard earned money on a piece of tripe that is clearly defective. I'll be moving my business elsewhere.

Welp. Sign me up as yet another owner of a Charge 2 that developed a long vertical crack overnight. I can't imagine any explanation, other than a design flaw, for the similar problems so many have reported. If there was some type of screen cracking motion sleep disorder, surely manymof us any w have experienced this earlier in life.
As for the company responding that their lack of action is just them following a company policy, that seems like a great way to lose their customer base.

My charge2 also had a crack real soon after I bought it. And I could by it with a discount because my ChargeHR wristband was broken. Now this again. It’s now one year and a few days in my possession. I know that when I have to buy a new device it won’t be a Fitbit anymore.

It’s a dreadful shame they don’t address our cracked screen with the same speed.
Having said that if they did what would we all be talking about .?
keep up the excellent work my fellow cracked screeners.............
