I've done the same, I've also cut out a piece on clear contact plastic and
carefully stuck it on the screen, it's barely visible and the crack is
sealed from moisture. It is cheaper than a new Fitbit.

I had thought about  putting sticky plastic on screen but was worried that the screen wouldnt be touch sensitive.

We shouldn’t have to do these temporary fixes .
If the company was any good it wouldn’t of happened in the first place .
I can see what you are doing, but how sad is it when we have all spent so much money on what is just a crap product.
Fitbit , man up you bunch of losers and stand by your product.!!
A totally dissatisfied Fitbit purchaser .

Your Fitbit isn't touch screen anyway so you needn't worry. It senses a tap due to the accelerometer. If you two your band close enough to the unit, it'll register just the same.

But when your screen cracks top to bottom, does’t that kinda do away with any water resistant/waterproof feature of the monitor?  It is hard for me to accept that many many people are having this problem and your thought is - Don’t worry about it, just live with it.

Absolutely the product is floored and something needs sorting.

i don’t think any of us are prepared to just sit back and except it’s just one of those things.!!

i was in our local shopping mall showing people mine over the weekend, and I’m banking on I put over a 100 :hundred_points: people off of buying a fit bit product, simply by showing them mine and showing them the feedback on this site .

I would like to take this opportunity in wishing the Fitbit team all the best in the new year,!! You are going to need it ......

Three friends and myself all bought ours at Bestbuys last December. Within two weeks mine developed a vertical crease, right down the center. One week later all 4 had the identical crease. We conference called customer support and were told it's not covered. 4 watches bought from the same place on the same day all creased within 3 weeks. Yes, a design issue that is not being recalled or supported. Shame on fitbit!

I went on vacation and hiked up over 60 sets of stairs, then down, then up again.  (Maybe 600’ to 900‘) Boy my heart was pumping. Then jumped into the river and slid and swam down.  Then we left there and went zip lining, I don’t know how much we hiked up to slide down the eight different lines but it was a bunch.  Do you know what my fitbit registered when we finished = I HAVE NO CLUE, because it has a big crack in the screen and I can’t get it wet.  I wish I had replaced it before we left, but I couldn’t do it at this time.

Looks like the crease down the middle is happening to everyone, in my case Fitbit said sorry buy a new one.  I told them I didn't want to buy a new one, mine looks like new other than the crease everyone seems to be having and also just after I bought an 18 pack of new bands and I didn't even get a chance to use even one.  I will not be replacing my fitbit with another one they do not stand behind their products and have replacement parts they just want you to buy a new one.  I'm sorry I shouldn't have to but a new tracker every year.  I know another known issue is with charging on several of them.  Fitbit needs to stand behind their products and have replacement parts.

My Charge 2 also developed a vertical crack after owning it more than a year. And I thought I must of whacked it. Now I realize Fitbit made a lemon and doesn’t want to own up to it.

I knew mine was out of warranty so haven’t bothered contacting customer service since it was a pain reporting when the band came apart. Now that I’m looking for a replacement I see this has happened to a lot of people. My first Fitbit gave me hives and was recalled and the 2nd one cracked. Seeing how this was handled I will take my business elsewhere.

Good decision! Defective products and bad customer service!

Both my wife’s and mine got the same vertical cracks within a month of each other. Hers just under a year and mine just over. Both replaced. Hers works fine and mine won’t set up - that’s another thread.

This cracking is obviously an inherent fault and Fitbit should acknowledge this and either refund or upgrade those affected to better models. The guarantee has no bearing when a product is not fit for purpose.

Disgraceful and I certainly won’t buy from them again.

Mine has the exact same crack, just appeared overnight,

I agree, read the other posts quite a few people are going away from Fitbit because of faulty product and poor customer service.  I'm sorry when this many people are all having the same issue something is wrong with the product.  They should own up to it and replace them or upgrade them to something that is not having the issues.

My fitbit is about 5 months old and has a crack directly down the middle of the screen. 😟 I've just emailed the customer service about it (from the beginning of this thread) so fingers crossed!

You are one of the lucky one .
Usually the product has a 12 month period, after that it tends to crack .
As you have no doubt read about here , basically because the product is floored.
Fitbit know this but , the company is also floored.
They will replace yours no problem because basically they have to under the terms of there warranty.
But remember your guarantee period is 12 months in total, therefore you have had 5 months of that , so your new one will only have 7 months.
Good luck.

A design flaw should not be governed by a warranty. Only those whose flaw
occurs within the 1 year warranty even receive consideration. Those whose
flaw occurs after the warranty are blown off by the company using the
warranty as an excuse. Fitbit's response to the design flaw is garbage.
Look out charge 3 purchasers. From the pictures it appears that you have
the same screen we do so I am guessing a similar problem will begin
occurring with your watches also.
