Screen wake not working correctly / option to add auto dim option and always on clock face

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I have a few issues with the screen

1. Turning the wrist does not always wake it, i usually resort to pressing a button. Is there a way to adjust the sensitivity?

2. Touching the screen does not always wake it. I usually have to press a button

3. Notifications do not wake it. As the above dont work i have to press the button - can this be a setting to wake please...

4. The clock face cant stay on all the time, it would be great to add an option to auto dim it and remain on. I know other ffaces are available but they suck, this bring me to my next point

5. Its really hard to find a clock face that is always on without installing it - this should be more visible in the app store (sorry i know not technically related to screen)

Hello @smol84, I hope you're doing well, it's great to see you around! Smiley Happy

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I appreciate your participation in the forums and will try my best to address every point you mention:

1. If you find that Screen Wake is not very sensitive on your Versa, please restart the Versa by pressing and holding the Back and Select buttons (left and bottom right) until you see the Fitbit logo on the screen, then monitor the watch to see if Screen Wake is working better after the restart.

2. Instead of tapping the screen to wake it up, please tap the band under the screen.

3. When you receive Notifications on your watch, the Versa will only vibrate, please turn your wrist or tap on the band to wake the Versa up so you can see the Notifications.

4. At the moment it's only possible to dim the brightness of the watch by changing tapping the Settings app and select "Auto" as an option, this will increase or decrease the brightness of the watch automatically. I think it's a good idea to have a clock face that can stay on all the time, like the Surge had, which is why I would like to encourage you to check @horse482's suggested idea to implement this feature in a future update. Feel free to add you vote and comment on this idea and please keep in mind that even when the idea is for the Ionic, the Versa shares the same FitbitOS.

5. I think having more information about the clock faces on the app store is also a great idea, please feel free to submit your insight as a suggested idea, where members of the Community can comment and vote for it so it can be implemented in the future.

Feel free to share your suggestion with your friends and family to add more votes and comments, this is the best way to make your voice heard and get the attention from our development team.

I hope this can be helpful, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Hi @MarcoGFitbit

I tried your solution but the screen still doesn't turn on when i turn my wrist, resetting the watch feels like it made it worse and now it very rarely turns on.

This makes your suggestion for looking at notifications difficult because t means I need to click buttons on the watch, this defeats the point and instead i just use the phone which is not ideal.

On your suggestion for number 2. where do you suggest? I have tried on the fitbit logo but it didn't work

In case anyone else reads this post and wants to vote for my suggestion to filter in the app store on clocks that allow the screen to be always on - you can vote for it here

Yeah, same situation for me and my Versa. Did the restart but sensitivity is the same. A double tap on the screen seems to work best for me. I'm also not sure where @MarcoGFitbit suggests to tap. My request would be to duplicate the screen wake functionality on the Pebble 2- wrist flick. Worked 99% of the time.

Thanks...

@ai-yo would you add this request to suggestions? I would happily vote for it.

I agree, should be an option to auto wake screen for say 10 seconds when you get a call or notification.

I had an incoming call the other day and I needed to see who it was. I am sitting there turning my wrist like a dork over and over again because it would not come on... Finally tried to hit the button to wake the screen but by the time I had it was too late, call missed.

@MarcoGFitbit I still don't have a resolution for these issues relating to the screen waking, any suggestions?

If it helps I have noticed that the wake on wrist motion seems less sensitive with the 'layers' clock face than the non-fit bit clock faces I have tried, but I have no way to substantiate that with any real data...

Hello @smol84, I hope you're doing well, thanks for taking the time to reply. Smiley Happy

I appreciate you have returned with your findings, I'll forward them to our team so they can take a better look at this situation. About the points you mentioned, it seems the Versa's Screen Wake does not increase sensitivity after restarting the watch, so I'll add this to the information I will forward. Now, when I mentioned the band, I meant the portion of the wristband that connects to the watch, tapping the band in that exact place should be enough to wake it up when Screen Wake does not turn on the screen when you move your wrist.

As for the notifications, is the watch vibrating when you receive one? Have you adjusted the setting in the Versa to increase the vibration (Settings > Vibration)?  The watch should vibrate when receiving a text/call/app/calendar notification, turning on the screen by any method will show the current notification that have just arrived to the watch.

I hope this resolves your inquiry, if there's anything else you might want to add, please feel free to reply.

The screen turning on with flick of the wrist is inconsistent. Sometimes a mere flick will work but most times need to tap the screen to get it on,  Love the watch but clearly an issue that needs to be resolved.

I’m finding both the iOS app and the Versa watch are constantly buggy.  Today, I noticed my watch came on when my wrist turned.  My setting is set to manual which is strange.  Then I was clapping and it came on again.  I would think if Manual is the setting, nothing should turn the screen on unless you tap the screen.  I am hoping there with be firmware updates soon.  I have had my Versa for less than a week and am disappointed with it everyday.  I realize its a new watch but still too buggy.

Just got mine yesterday.

Sometimes my screen will not wake with...

1. Flick of wrist

2. Tap of the anywhere on the screen

3. Press of any button

What’s gone wrong?

I’ve had to restart it each time.

I noticed if you go into the account and go to versa threes a button that says Quick View.  If it is on I can flick my wrist and see watch.  At night I turn it off so it doesn't light up overnight.  Does this help anyone?

I have thus switched on. I works most of the time. It’s just about 4 tines where it seems to have died and nothing wakes the screen.

@GillsB I have all the same issues except the button one - that must be horrible! I haven't had any luck with any of the suggestions so far either 😞

@MarcoGFitbit The notifications work fine - the problem is the screen doens't wake so I can't see them without manually pressing the buttons on the watch.

All your other suggestions still haven't helped with getting the screen to wake. What other options are available? Is it hardware? Do we swap the watch or return it for a refund?

Having the screen work is pretty fundamental to being able to use the Versa.

@SunsetRunner unfortunately not - I have quick view turned on but the issue persists

None of the suggested fixes have worked. The auto screen on issue is a deal breaker /maker that has to be fixed

I'm hard core "flicking my wrist" and also unable to get it to come in automatically. I have to tap it. Checked all settings. Seriously thinking of taking it back as I was not expecting it to have so many issues brand new. At this point, your better off with a charge hr since that's basically all that it is at this moment. I wanted a smartwatch.
