Update 9/3/2020: This update should now be available to all customers. If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist.
We've started rolling out Fitbit OS 4.2 Firmware Update (71.6.19) for the Versa series.
We release firmware updates to all customers in phases. The update will be available to everyone soon, and a banner will appear in the app when you can install the update. If you don’t see the banner yet, check the app again later.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa device can be found here.
We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.

I just wanted to share that I received the update this morning and have had no trouble since. In fact, I've been excited for active zone minutes to come to the Versa 2 since I first read about them months ago and the first day did not disappoint. For me, it's a much more useful metric of how I'm exercising than active minutes alone.
However, I hope they are somehow able to address the fact that active zone minutes will not work for everyone with prior health issues. Perhaps give us the option to do one or the other?
Thanks, Fitbit team! I'm loving this new update.

Problems following the latest update.
My versa lite has worked perfectly every day all year until I received a message to install the current firmware update on 31st August.
Since then it does not sync with my device, loses time and has periods where it records nothing.
I have tried everything in troubleshooting and this thread including; uninstalling the app and reinstalling, resetting my device and resetting my versa.
I am now at the end of my tether, please can I get some further technical help.
Thankyou

Updated but my favourite clock face now has these white lines across it. Looks like 4.2 has introduced an issue with tending semi transparent graphics.I’m hoping Fitbit can address this or allow us to downgrade (instead of deleting my posts!)

Firmware update yesterday - for a Versa 2.
Can only access the Alexa app now, when pressing the watch button
Have heard the factory reset canfix the problems reported.
How can i do a factory re-set if i cant access any menus on the watch?
Appalled to find this was rolled out on 16th Aug, and Fitbit continue to merrily crash all their Versas without fixing these issues which appear to be many and widespread!
Wont be upgrading to another fitbit at this rate.

Received the update yesterday and have been playing around with it for 24 hours. I’ve had no problems whatsoever and actually quite like the zone minutes. For someone who runs everyday I like how it’s now broken down into zones
The only gripe I have is that my tracker is currently in the charger and my heart rate is still being recorded despite it not being on my wrist. I’ve just come back from a brisk walk and for the next 2 hours so or so, my device is going to be tracking my heart rate at 86bpm when I'm actually resting

I did all of the suggestions and I still have lost yesterday, and also weekly data. Is there no way to get that back?

Are these third party clock faces? If so, it'd be up to the creator to make sure it works with operating system updates.Just like with Computer software.

The update left my watch screen blank. It seems like the screen is fried from the update. What can I do? Discounted new watch?

They worked before the update. Now I can't use the ones I purchased.

BigChad: Personally, I am not willing to spend any money on Fitbits until their multiple problems are fixed. If you are under warranty, I would suggest going with the same model. That would be free. They would send you the face and you would need to keep the straps and cradle. You could keep getting replacements until the warranty is up. They are not the best, but at least your not risking any more money. If you decide to go with the discounted watch, see if you get a new warranty. Also, compare the price with that of stores. If given a choice, I would go with a store like Best Buy. Some people said that they really worked with them. I didn't buy mine from there.

Please explain why I have to use google to hunt down the list of changes made by the firmware update? Why is this not available on the app before I update? And why in the world would you change how to access the control center and not make that clear to your users ahead of time? I thought the watch was broken.

I am having the same issue. I updated over WiFi, synched and this morning my Versa is not responsive, the screen stays black, the lights on the back that read heartbeat etc do not light up.
Really frustrated.

@Ann133 So then you would contact who ever you paid for the clock face. It's their responsibility to make sure their paid product works with updates, not Fitbits.

Swatton: I'm not clear if you meant that the time on the warranty has expired or if you meant that it expired because you got a replacement. The warranty goes one or two years from the date of purchase, depending upon the plan you have. You can keep getting replacements until the time is up. I got two replacements before my warranty expired.
