Mine did the same thing it started to update over night but then it showed that message before finishing the update. All the steps shown wouldn’t work and I just got my Fitbit a few months ago

?versa 2 has locked up everyday this week gracefully reset, numerous soft resets. It will work four an hour or so then lock up again. Have spent lyrically 10 hors this week troubleshooting on my own and on chat with fitbit help. 2 year Warranty still has 21 months on it. I'm done with Fitbit. Trying Garmin.

Easy fix. Go to your phone, or whatever you used to pair via bluetooth and impair your versa from bluetooth. Your phone will find it right away and your fitbit will give the confirmation code.

I got the same problem yesterday - Versa 2 with Huawei P20 Pro – same message, no communication with the phone, forced restart did not helped – after restarting the same message was displayed and no other action was possible. Adding „new“ device helped. New version of the clock software was downloaded and updated and everything was OK. I deleted the device from the list, did factory reset, connected new device and updated SW again - maybe this was not necessary. From the beginning when I bought the clock synchronization took quite a long time. Now I have a feeling that the synchronization is faster than before. It is a combination but I suspect the function of my mobile phone and its operating system more than Versa clock.

Stuck with the same issue. It's been more than a week I try, try, and try again, without any success. The device won't synchronize anymore with anything and just displays that error. I contact support and just have me running into circles, trying again and again the same things I found on forums and already tried. Seems I'm stuck having to throw away the watch and buy something else, but there is nothing other than clones with impossible to remember brand names that will do less than the Fitbit and the iWatch requiring an iPhone (I have an Android phone with no plan to switch).

That are symptoms of hardware issues. You try, try, try, try, the same steps undreds of times with no success, you search on Google and get nothing that works, and then you try again and get failures again. Last time I got stuck like this, it was with a laptop computer and the hard drive or something was faulty. At least for these, you can get a replacement part, even from a local store, and fix. Well, not all the times, but at least some times. I'm really angry, I don't know what to do next, and nobody can help other than having me loose more and more time. I want to understand WHY Fitbit is still in business selling these devices. From what I see on forums, I'm not alone stuck with unsolvable issues. The only reason I can think of is that people buy them, try, try, try, and give up, and then others get trapped. I cannot believe they make enough money doing this again and again, and I would like to figure out a way to stop them from doing that, because it's a pure non-sense.
Is there any chance, by any miracle, it could work again if somebody tries thousands and thousands of time to set it up? Maybe I could sell it for 50$ and somebody willing to bang his head over the wall trying it again and again would buy it? But I would feel quite a jerk selling that knowing it will likely not work at all after all.

I have a Versa Lite the instructions stated to hold the back button for 10 second, I find see a back button and when press the side button for 10 seconds the Fitbit emblem pops up then the Data not cleared sync again displays. I can't update my account do to this error.
