Well at least that's answered my query. All I'm left wondering now is how you manage so many steps when you're consistently posting counter arguments to customers legitimate grievances?Maybe you type so fast it's activating your device.Troll away PureEvil, the majority are sick of you.
Then my only suggestion... Get the votes; until then this is all noise. You'll probably want to make the first page among the top listed, so about 1000 votes, or 3x the number of votes this currently has. If you find that there aren't that many folks voting for it, maybe entertain the idea that there simply aren't that many people that care about this feature.
Yes, if something has been mentioned I could suggest to folks to just read the preceding 15 pages of posts, or if I'm typing a post already (to instruct them to read) I could just mention it there. Are we really splitting hairs on whether I should post to instruct people to read the thread or if I should state something? Because either way it's a post and I find the former to be a bit rude (basically instructing someone to RTFM).
@IMB2507, for whatever it's worth, my main tracker is the Fitbit One. It's unaffected by typing. And honestly, I think you're misinterpreting my intent. This feature is not implemented (and IMHO it shouldn't be, but that's a different issue). Knowing that, I honestly want people to enjoy using their Fitbit.
Some folks have forgotten their Fitbit at home because they left it charging and forget to put it back on. They reason that if they can put one on immediately when they plug one in to charge, this wouldn't happen. This is true; implementing this feature would address their problem. However, threading your charging cable through your car/house key ring before you plug it in to charge will also prevent you from leaving the house without your Fitbit. First, they can continue to wait for this feature and get more and more frustrated waiting. Or second, they can simply follow someone's simple suggestion and not leave their Fitbit charging at home. They can't do anything about the first; they can do something about the second.
If folks articulate why they want it, I may be able to suggest some other way to accomplish that. 'Always having one charged -> Charge it when you shower' for instance. Why someone wants the feature matters. For instance, there was a post on this very thread from 05/19/2016:
"Please please please allow more than one of the same device. There are four in my fam. My wife and two young kids. We all enjoy our Fitbit Charges i have to delink any particular one to sync or make changes to any other one. It would be graet to be able to administer all four from one software application. Currently its not family friendly. "
I think it's pretty obvious that the author of this post doesn't understand the nature of the feature (since it would seem that four family members would have four different accounts, not one). If Fitbit implemented this feature without knowing why this user wants it, then his needs are not addressed.
I'm not minimizing what you folks are asking for... Honestly, I'm not. Though since this is not (yet?) implemented, maybe you'll take a few suggestions as to how to workaround your issue. And maybe once you've successfully worked around your issue, you'll find that you don't really need this feature anymore.
If you do have multiple family members with Fitbits, use the computer to sync. The connect software will have no problems doing this. With the Win 10 you want to enable the connect mode.
@NatalyaS as someone in technology you should understand that when s feature works as the developers intended it to work, it is not a bug..
This request is simoly showing interest in having the multiple tracker option inhanced.
My question is with 17 pages and only 317 votes iover 24'months, it looks like nobody is advertising this request. Ive seen requests go from 0 to a few thousand in less than 6 minths. If you where a developer, which would you choose?
Instead of making posts about my activity on the thread, why not just get the votes? The easiest way to shut me up is to get enough votes for Fitbit to notice. That said, if you find that there aren't that many people voting for this feature, at least entertain the idea that most Fitbit users don't think that this feature is that important.
Music these days is all online sites, mobile phones etc etc, but I'm old enough to remember records and occasionally they stuck, PureEvil is beginning to sound like a stuck record.I wonder how many votes we could get to remove him from this post? Probably more than 317.
Seems like fitbit wouldn't want to discourage anyone from buying a second version of any product. I too was thinking one for weekend wear, one for the work week.... guess I'll return the $150 gift and wait 'til my old one breaks.... or maybe I'll buy an apple watch instead.
@jstp, I don't believe it's a question of them discouraging you from buying two of one product, after all, you can buy as many of different models as you'd like.
When they introduced multi-tracker support, they assumed that the vast majority of folks would be doing it to use different features from different trackers to complement their lifestyle, and thus they built much of their UI and infrastructure to accommodate one of each model. I believe that this was a very reasonable assumption and I believe that's the scenario for most people.
With the existing UI, some things would be ambiguous to have two of the same model... For instance, if you set a silent alarm (so you don't wake up your spouse for an early flight) on one of your Flexes (which has no color or display, so no way to distinguish between the two) which one do you wear to bed? There's no way to know which one has the alarm set.
Could they update their UI to accommodate it? Perhaps... but I don't think they would unless many (thousands) of folks voted for this feature.
Many people voted for multi tracker support, nobody asked for the ability to have 2 of the same model.. Most wanted a high end model for tracking workouts and a lower end model for everyday wear.
Yes I can almost understand why someone might want 2different colors of the same model, but now that the bands are interchangeable this point is mute.
Is there any progress on this? I like my FitBit One, but when the battery runs out, I'd like to just swap it for the fully charged version waiting. And I already purchased a 2nd One, not thinking that the model would have anything to do with Multi Tracking support.
While I can't speak for Fitbit, I imagine the amount of work to enable this appropriately (so that it's sensible for things like setting alarms) is far too involved for the modest number of votes for this feature.
That said, I can provide a few suggestions:
You'll get a low battery warning at least a full day before it loses charge (yes, I've tested this), just charge it when you get home. If you're worried about forgetting it at home when it's charging, loop the charging cable through your house keys... you won't be able to leave the house without your Fitbit.
Charge when you're not actually stepping. You need to take it off while you shower, so charge it then. It'll keep its charge indefinitely this way. Or use a USB battery pack and charge it when you're driving.
While not ideal (since you may lose steps since your last sync), you can replace your tracker each time you want to swap them out. Note: if you do this you'll have to establish your tracker settings (and alarms) each time with your 'new' tracker.
You can simply get a Zip, which you'd wear much like you'd wear your One. You won't get flights of stairs tracked, nor does it do sleep tracking, but it'll track your steps during the time when you charge your One.
While I have many trackers, my main tracker is the One, and I've maintained 40+ straight days with 20k steps. When it's low on power, I pick an appropriate time (typically that evening), plug it in to charge and relax; I don't feel a need to strap another one on immediately to continue stepping.
It appears that since 2015, we the users have been requesting that the app allow for two devices be able to sync for one person. I'm guessing that we don't have enough votes for fitbit to consider this simple fix. How do we get your attention to make this fix?
For whatever it's worth, this isn't a simple fix. If it was merely collecting information from a 2nd tracker of the same model, it would be simple. Most of the UI has been designed to work on a per model basis, redesigning it to work with two of the same model is a significant amount of work.
For instance, if you have two Flex trackers (which do not have a display at all) and set a silent alarm on one, which one do you wear to bed? If you can only have one Flex on your account, this is unambiguous.
Lastly, the reason why folks want two of the same model tracker matters... For instance, some folks want to accessorize with different color trackers. Fitbit worked hard to make all new trackers (Blaze, Alta, Charge 2, Alta HR, and Flex 2) have removable, replaceable bands since many folks wanted to accessorize. It's far easier to get a 2nd band of a different color than it is to have a 2nd tracker of a different color.
And to answer your question, a feature suggestion would likely need to have probably somewhere over 1000 votes for Fitbit to start to notice.
I got a Fitbit Alta hr for workouts that gets a little scratched up but works. I read about the ability to have 2 trackers on the same account but was unaware that they had to be different models. So now I do a setup and replace to change to a different Fitbit Alta hr. Works ok if you sync before to not lose information. But all the settings are lost and have to be redone. Takes a little effort that I think should be covered by the app.
if we can have a "Fitbit Alta hr 1" and "Fitbit Alta hr 2". Or maybe the ability to rename a Fitbit to the name we want. Then both Fitbits would have a different name. That would make life a lot easier.
I have 2 Charge 2s. Please consider Fitbit to allow us to have more than one of the same type Fitbit to use when we are charging our tracker. It would life much better for your users.
I would really want to have two Charge 2's on one account! I would like to wear one that can get beat up a little when doing diy and one that will stay nice. I cannot think of a reason this would be a negative thing!
@NinaDeWit, while I'm sure that there are a number of factors into what contribute to whether Fitbit works on a feature suggestion, I imagine that the number of votes is one of them. There are many feature suggestions that have more votes than this one.
That said, if I were looking at a second tracker that can get beat up during DIY, I'd probably lean towards the Flex 2 (and you can have the Charge 2 and Flex 2 on the same account). Reasons for this choice:
The Flex 2 is completely encased in the band (the Charge 2 is not). If it gets beat up enough, simply get a new band.
The Flex 2 is waterproof (the Charge 2 is not). If the nature of your DIY projects involve water, it won't affect the former.
While the Flex 2 lacks some features of the Charge 2 (display, flights of stairs, exercise shortcuts, guided breathing, viewable notification), these are features that you're less likely to use during DIY projects.
Lastly, the Charge 2 has replaceable bands (once they get beat up enough, just replace them) and you may get screen protectors that work very effectively.
@PureEvil, a different model would have been an option if I had known this before... Judging by the amount of people surprised by this limitation, I think it could be communicated more clearly.
Although I still not see a reason why Fitbit would not want to allow more of the same model. I am very happy with the Charge 2, so why buy something else? There actually is a reason I have chosen to go for the Charge 2 and not for a different one and I do not think you could be the judge of what would work better for someone else.
And regarding the votes, please rest assured I have given this one my vote.
PS. I have also already tried the screen protectors... not a huge success to be honest.
@NinaDeWit, my suggestion for you to get the Flex 2 was really to get you unblocked without needing to wait for Fitbit to implement this. That said, multi-tracker support was very explicit from the very beginning in both the announcement and the help article that it's one per model tracker:
"Your account can have one of each tracker model and MobileTrack."
And to be bluntly honest, the number of people who are surprised isn't a good indicator of whether or not Fitbit communicated this appropriately. For example, Fitbit explicitly instructs users both on the Charge 2 manual and on the Fitbit app (the moment you pair it) that tapping is used to navigate through some UI elements; I'd say that's communicated very clearly. Yet there have been instances like this one and this one where folks who were surprised to find that tapping is how you navigate the UI.
As for why not support two of the same model? Well, much of the UI for Fitbit (website and apps) are built around the settings and status managed by the model. For instance, you set a silent alarm on the Charge 2 vs. the Flex 2 on your account. If there were two Flex 2 trackers on your account (which don't have a display) and you set an alarm on one, which one of the two do you wear to bed if they look identical on the settings on the app? This is just one of many scenarios that would be broken.
Could they still find a way to do it so that it all makes sense? Probably... but when there are (no offense) fewer than 1000 votes on this feature, it doesn't sound like there's enough interest (there are many other feature suggestions that outrank this one) or to frame it differently... they should implement the (100 or so) higher ranked suggestions before getting to this one.
