Allow multiple devices on the same account (Sense/Versa series, Inspire, Charge & Luxe)

Be allowed to have both a Fitbit Versa and a Fitbit Ionic on the same account so you can easily switch between them.

The real status appears to be that it’s never going to happen. Fitbit periodically posts the exact same message and has done nothing for at least 3 years. I can’t speak to what was posted before early 2018.

I own a sense and a inspire 2, it is almost a deal breaker to have to keep adding each one back over and over again. Why isn't this an option?!

In other words @SunsetRunner, go away. We’re not doing anything. It would be nice if they at least changed the response, even in a minor way.

Since it's been "under consideration" for years I don't think it will happen unless a lot more people ask for this. There are suggestions for improvements to Fitbit devices that have 8000 votes. We need more support from Fitbit users!

Just received my Sense and am in disbelief that multiple trackers can't be linked to an account. From a data perspective it should be trivial to dedupe step data if both devices were worn at the same time...but even as a starting point, being warned to wear only one device at a time to avoid double counting would be an acceptable workaround. Having to keep swapping devices...I'm just not sure if this is going to work for me. The product manager or software architect who made this decision perhaps lacked important insight into how customers would want to use devices.

"Switching? There's a Fitbit Inspire connected to your account already." Such a sad message to see after I unboxed the Sense. 😞

I suggest that you post this in any review you give to the device. Fitbit does not listen to this forum.

I have just switched and I use google fit to monitor my health.  I can use two different brands of devices and sync with google fit.  This way I can migrate from the fitbit device of just maintain one.  I don't have to keep re-syncing my to a new fitbit device.  I agree with the person who said that do reviews and make sure that people who are buying the device know about this short fall.

I am getting a Versa 3 for Christmas and I already have a Versa 2. I would like to alternate wearing these but it is not possible to have two of the same series on one app/account

Hi @Smallsparkle, thanks for explaining why you would like to have the option to use multiple devices on the same account . I've moved it into a similar suggestion which has been updated as "Under Consideration". I hope to see you around.

That exactly happened to me. You are happy with the new purchase but when
trying to activate you receive that message. If I was the PM, I would be
embarrased.

I have a Versa 2, Charge 2, and a One.  I use the Versa 2 when I am at work, I wear the Charge 2 at home and when on the treadmill, and the One is for outside activity/mowing so I can clip it somewhere and not worry about catching it on something or getting tan lines around the wrist.  All sync fine together.  The One, unfortunately, has now stopped charging.  For Christmas, I asked for the Inspire 2 to replace the One.  Well, Merry Christmas to me because after reading this, I am certain that I cannot use the Inspire 2 with the Versa 2.  So now what am I supposed to do?  You'd think that with Fitbit as big as they are, they'd have some programmers who could figure this out.  Disappointing.

Where are you moving this too? It never gets a real response.

not sure why multiple moderators here insist to file this "under consideration" or treating this as a new feature to be considered to be implemented...

this is existing Fitbit functionality even advertised in your own blog (Sync Multiple Devices to Your Fitbit Account with Multi-Tracker Support - Fitbit Blog) aka " ...Multi-Tracker Support you can now have one tracker for daily wear and another for your workouts...." it rather seems to me that the latest Fitbit device generation broke this useful feature and a lot of user missing it (counting here the posts asking to be reinstated) so please do not treat it as a new request but as a needed fix for some existing functionality that does't longer work...

The best way to force Fitbit’s hand is to put this same information in any reviews you do.

I would like to be able to switch between my fitbit devices (Inspire/Charge 4) without having to add/delete my device each time. I use one for everyday and the other for our home improvement projects so i don’t damage my Charge 4..

It can't be done with the current restrictions on devices. The community
has been asking for this improvement for at least 6 years with no response
other than "we will think about it some day". I highly recommend
highlighting this restriction in any review that you do and lower the
rating of the devices accordingly.

Yes that is good advice.

I like Fitbit but it only make sense that some of us might need a watch and a tracker.

Last Xmas my husband gave me a Versa 2. I already had a Surge that I loved but I wanted something pretty to wear out at night, to functions, to business meetings that looked a little more feminine and  still track my steps and stats. Imagine my deep disappointment when we realised I could not switch between devices easily. I did what everyone else is doing and scoured the notice boards for fixes, posted a suggestion thread, and voted on the previous suggestions in the hope that Fitbit would listen and make the changes that everyone was asking for. And so I waited and waited and waited until I finally gave up and this year for Xmas my husband gave me an Apple Series 6 watch. It seems to do everything my Surge does and a whole lot more! Perhaps I will continue to use my Surge for tracking my runs or I might just use Endomondo and Apple. I’ll miss the Fitbit app because I thought it was really top notch but frankly I was sick of waiting for something to happen and really, the only way things will change is if we vote with our feet and walk away. I did and it feels good. I hope a moderator sees this and feeds it back up the line.

Your Surge should work with any of the Versa trackers as it doesn’t use the same subsystem so is seen as a different watch.  I have a Surge, Ionic and Charge 2 all on the same account with no problems at all.  I also have a Versa which can be used in the account providing I remove the Ionic first.

Have you tried adding your Versa 2 to the account with the Surge and what did it say?

I also have an Apple Watch and yes they are good, however, for tracking fitness Fitbit is superior, the in built GPS in the Apple doesn’t hold lock as well as a Surge (or Ionic) and the battery doesn’t last long enough to track steps by day and sleep by night.  An Apple Watch doesn’t track anything whilst it is recharging which is an almost daily activity.

Hi Dr Robin,

Thanks for your comment. Actually I have an Iconic and wanted it to be interchangeable with the Versa 2. I was definitely unable to have both of them set up at the same time. I agree that for fitness the Fitbit is probably better but I’m just sick of waiting for change that the company appears to have no interest in carrying out and honestly believe that the only way it will change will be if the company starts to lose revenue, then they will start to ask why and maybe give their fans what they need. I have been so loyal to Fitbit for many years so it wasn’t an easy change for me...

Yes, you can’t have an Ionic and Versa on the same account at once, but you can have a Surge, that was why I questioned your post.

Good luck.

Once the sale to Google is finalized Fitbit will probably be merged into Google OS and the Fitbit brand itself may disappear so this will become a moot point after a few years of frustration.

I have the Sense, Versa 2, Ionic & Charge 4 and can only use 1 at a time which is a disgrace.
