Challenges not Based on Steps, eg. Sports, Stairs, Active Mins

It would be nice to have different types of challenges that aren't solely based on getting our steps in. 

For instance, the number of active minutes in a day, loss challenge, calories, water consumption. Some activities don't count steps such as cycling, skiing or skateboard.  I would like to be able to compete against my friends while doing other activities.

I've actually found that if you want to maximise the number of steps and minimize the effort, the best way is walking. Running is optimal only when you want to take into account the time spent.

Would love it if an 'active minutes' challenge was an option, steps can be easy to generate without actually pushing fitness toward gain, getting our heart rates up is whats good for us👍🏻❤️❤️

I fully agree with this idea. The main aim in exercise is to burn calories therefore that should be a main challenge. Not so much stepping.

This seems like such an intuitive idea that I'm not sure why they don't already have it, especially seeing how long this thread has been out there. They obviously already have the infrastucture developed for one metric.. It can't be that difficult to add another.. I like my fitbit, but I think this would do a lot to keep me and others motivated. Please develop ASAP!

Having challenges are awesome, but currently there are only challenges for steps.  While I may not take as many steps as others, I may have more active minutes.  Being ab;e to create challenges to see who burns the most calories or who has the most active minutes would be an awesome addition to your current challenge option.

Sounds like a good idea to have this type of Challenge. It would make things more interesting and I bet more people could achieve and over pass their step goal as well. Thank you for sharing your request!

It would be awesome if there were more challenges based on things other than just steps. Perhaps time spent in active minutes as this could be based on your own HR percentage. Or stairs climbed.

I don't understand how with this many comments we haven't in the calorie burn challenge. I understand Fitbit is all about running and jogging but there is a whole section of the community that would rather weight lift. I bought the Fitbit hoping for something like this but was disappointed that it's not there.

Agreed! The best use of gym time isn't spent burning the candle on the treadmill ..... I sure hope they can come up with something for weight training!

Fitbit, you should have an "Active Minutes" challenge that we could do among our friends.

Truth be told, there is a difference between taking steps and being active. One could have 30,000 steps and be less active than the one that has 10,000.

Im totally agree with the fact of putting calories burn challenge or number of stair or even time put in training, step are cool but it doesn't represent the real effort in exercise for who want to train at gym or sport. Im really questioning my self right now why it still not add in the app at this time... Kinda hard to recommend fitbit right now for friend who love weight lifting and sport 😕
