Idle Alert

I would love to have an "Idle Alert" feature added where the device would vibrate if you've been idle for a certain length of time.

Founded and managed by James Park and Eric Friedman, Fitbit has offices at 405 Howard St Ste 550, San Francisco, CA 94105.  It may be time to write to them to see if they are aware of this issue and if they have any comment.

You're assuming they would actually see the letters. There is probably a conspiracy among the incompetent minions to screen out letters which would expose the incompetence.

I was surprised this wasn't an available feature already.  I was researching how to turn the idle feature on when I found out that the Charge HR doesn't have it.  Come one FitBit engineers - make it happen!  I just bought the VivoSmart HR for my mom - b/c she wanted something she could wear while swimming - and it has the idle feature.

@TravelBug73 Great choice! The Vivosmart HR is the best bang for the buck on the market right now as far as I can tell. It's what the "Charge HR 2" (or at least 1.5?) should have been in my opinion. Garmin seems to actually listen to customers or at least reviewers, because I very frequently see them implementing "missing" things that I see commented on in various reviews via firmware updates. All the time I see reviewers posting updates that something was added.

I mostly just see Fitbit reblogging photos of Obama wearing a Surge.

Based on a recommendation on this board by tim_l , I exchanged my Charge HR for the VivoSmart HR because it did not have the idle alert. Thanks Tim. The Vivo Smart has the idle alert and much more. The display screen is more visible and has more useful information. You can get text, call, email, and calendar alerts and control music on your phone Its waterproof, and battery is supposed to last just as long. And its the same price! I will let you know how good the battery is but so far am very pleased. If someone from Fitbit simply got back and said "we are working on it, be patient, it's coming soon." I may not have looked for another option. This would not have happened at a first class company like Apple, Amazon, Uber, Microsoft, etc. Someone would have responded by now. It's been 2 years! C'mon guys. Read your mail. No wonder the stock is down. Goodbye Fitbit. -- Regards, Jerry Frech gkfrech@gmail.com

I just exchanged my Fitbit to the VivoSmart HR about 4 days ago. Neither of these devices are really what I was looking for and I would have stayed with my Fitbit if (as Jerry53 mentioned) they had said there was something in the works that would allow for the idle alert. I like the continous monitoring of my HR that in the Fitbit and it wasn't too bad to look at.

The idle alert is very important to me as a reminder of how inactive I have been throughout the day. It keeps me on my toes so to speak.

Seems simple enough - I'd like a vibration earning when I've been sitting too long. It would need to be customize able so I could set the time of day I would want the warning AND how long I consider "sedentary."

Idle alert would be a welcome addition to fitbit! I have been using fitbit products for 2 years, I currently have the surge, and love it. However, I am looking forward to the Blaze, because of it looking nicer than the Surge! Please consider adding idle alerts to fitbits!

Great idea - came here to search for that feature, and surprised it doesn't already do it.

Hope this can be included in an update for Fitbit Charge. Even just the capability to set the alarm to vibrate at hourly intervals, rather than just daily repeats, would be helpful.

Does anyone from Fitbit read these suggestions, or are we just talking to ourselves?  The slightest indication that we were being heard would go a long way towards relieving growing customer dissatisfaction.  Sent on the go with Vodafone

I am dumbfounded this isn't going to exist on the Blaze.  I do have the Blaze on pre-order.  For me, it has 2 of 3 main features I wanted to upgrade from my Charge HR.

1.  It has the connected GPS.  Sure, built in GPS is fine, but I have a Charge HR and not a Surge since the Surge is so huge and ugly.  I don't feel that it sometime I can wear all day and I want to wear my activity monitor all day.  I always have my phone with me when walking outside (I am not a runner).  So the connected GPS is fine for my needs.

2.  Being able to change bands.  I loved how the Flex could do this.  This is a big issue for me.  I wear my Charge HR 24/7, but my plum band isn't appropriate for everything.  I really like the ability to switch bands.

3.  Idle alert - I am disappointed it doesn't have it.   I wonder if I made a mistake on my pre-order.

I too would like the idle alert. I was most disappointed when I moved from the up24 jawbone to this and found it not to be included. The sales pitch I was given said it did all the jawbone did and do much more. Please can this feature be added real soon. I work at a desk in an office and I used the idle alert to help motivate my whole team to get up and walk around. Please let me know when this is likely to happen? If it's a no go so I can change devices. Thank you.

The people on this forum have been asking for several years. If it's important is find a new device and never look back.

+1, please add this feature

All it takes is a simple firmware update to implement this vital update. Which part of it does Fitbit not understand?

Oh and for all Garmin Vivo wannabes, it might have that "one" important feature, move alert, but fit and finish on the Fitbit is far better. Garmin Vivosmart HR is flimsy and tacky and has to keep rolling round the wrist to track HR accurately.

This would be a great idea. Why has it not happened yet?

This has been a major request for over a year. I thought the Fitbit Charge HAD this feature, and am now finding out it doesn't. What is the priority and ETA on this? I can't imagine another feature has more upvotes. Please post the priority you've assigned this enhancement and the ETA so people can make more informed purchasing decisions.

Confirmed - of all the proposed enhancements listed as "under consideration," this has by far the most upvotes. Please set your development priorities at least SOMEWHAT on customer feedback and requirements.

Come on Fitbit, at least give us some indication of when we can expect this feature you've now had over 850 requests for!

This for me is a neccesity these days, surely it wouldnt be so hard to implement this feature when so many have requested?

Is there any way to manually set 'vibrate alarms' for each hour during working hours?

Thanks

Gary
