Fitbit Sense vs Ionic

So it looks like we wont be getting a new Ionic that I love but I need a new smartwatch with GPS and what should I pick. 

I want everything the Ionic can do ...

how would you compare the 2 watches ...

LOVE my versa 3. I’ve followed the path - surge to ionic to Versa 3. Ionic was fantastic but the "answer voice calls" on Versa 3 is worth the price of admission alone. Sense is overloaded IMO.

The Versa 3, Sense, and Charge 4 all have built in GPS

I was under the impression the Versa 3 didn’t have built in GPS, which is why I went to the Sense. I am reading now it does have built in GPS. Did I misread or was it advertised like that originally?  I am trying to figure out the differences now...

Its always had GPS,  the surge watch was top of the range and the first !, then the iconic ., and now the Sense is fitbits top end model . All had GPS and very accurate in comparison to other smart watches.  I had Samsung top smart watch . It was nothing like the iconic . I bin the Samsung batteries died after 14 months because I never used it . Always had the fitbit on . Sent from my Galaxy

Yes they do and very good GPS,  but 2 years ago or less, they didn't they used to work with your phones GPS.  Only surge and Iconic had built in GPS back then  and more of the new range have GPS built in now.  The old charge 2 and the altar and the blaze used your mobiles GPS. Sent from my Galaxy

Whats wrong ? Iv had the surge, the blaze, the iconic, the charge 2 for wife,  charge  4, for the wife and now the sense,  for me . I also had samsung  top end watch and garmins top offer smart watch . The sense is OK but the oxygen monitor and is a gimic or not in anyway close . Tried  the apple watch got a much closer reading as I have asthma,  as I have the real tool for the job that said 98 to 99 % the sense said 94%.                             The heart stress thing in the watch is not real as when you do it, you then have tell it how you feel . Nothing clever about that and alxa God hate that . I tried to go to menu  just got that instead unless.  I want and need stuff that is actually useful a sport watch thats smart helpful accurate  . The apple watch dosnt need your phone with the user when running riding swimming and you can make calls when you're miles away from your phone , its water proof and it has a toggle button and touch screen,  very useful.  Not sure how accurate the tracking is. But your music on phone links to watch even if the phone is miles away useful as I use blue tooth all the time and if riding I don't wont the phone with me . Swim opp good never had that but haven't tried it because of covid . Ps id move to apple watch if it worked on my android.  I not a fan of the iPhone so . I'm looking to see if I can better the sense , fit bit have the best battery life and best GPS to date of anything I have had . But I can't say that for shore now I reckon the apple watch is as good or better and a bigger screen. But as for you saying wrong I think your ignorance is showing,  iv had the hole range almost,  and lots of experience.  With the fitbit family of watches the good bits and bad . And I loved all except this sense its needing a tweek . The old surge I wanted it to swim with it but it wasn't water proof,  and if the strap broke that was it you needed a new watch . The iconic was excellent but needed waterproofing better ! The menu worked OK.  The sense menu works if you can access it with out it going somewhere you don't want it to go  like Alexer. And the heart rate monitor seems not as good as iconic , I just not convinced this is that good anymore apart from battery life is the best . And the step count is very accurate good GPS. The phone calls I've tryed it. But it won't work unless the phone is next to you so why do you need the service on the watch .if your running the call comes to your head set . If fitbit had apple tech yes worth it but its dated . Sent from my Galaxy

Totally agree iv had most of the fit bit watches over the years surge iconic charge 1 ,2 and 4 , then the blaze, that was inbetween surge and iconic but no inbuilt GPS.  The sense is there top model but its a bit backwards in tech with alexa,  who wants that and oxygen monitor thats not accurate 🤔.  And I think the heat rate monitor not as good as old iconic,  and the stress test heart thing that when you've done what it asks , its then asking how you feel so really your telling it ? Usless GPS and tracking is as good as ever . The phone answer is a waste of time now and out dated . Because you need to have your phone with you . So I'd answer that .and if running I'd have my music playing so my headphones would take call. And the watch won't connect to head phones with Bluetooth and the watch won't take calls unless you have phone with you ??? Now a good system is the apple watch as it plays all you music from watch cloud and makes and receives call miles away from phone , and water proof and dosnt need to be anywhere near the phone and works perfectly and connects to your head phones . I wish It would work on my android phone.  Unfortunately I need an iPhone so I can't have there watch, as I'm not a fan of iPhones.Sent from my Galaxy

The real question is when you are doing your Runs/Hikes/Bike Rides, do you like to listen to music?  If the answer is NO, then buy the Sense, but if it is Yes stick with the Ionic.

The key difference is this, the 2015 Mustang had a killer Stereo system that allowed you to play all your CDs and other music.  The 2021 Mustang removed all that and the only way you can listen to music while driving is to get a monthly subscription to the music service that Ford offers and they, of course, get a kickback when you do so.

You can use your phones music ! my rs streams my music or my ranger streams music.  Rangers new , and the new audi s4 streams music . So if you are saying otherwise id check that out . Not ever heard of that . I test for landrover and ford !! When there new model,  the covered in camouflage ones hidden from public view. Never ever had that problem and iv driven all the mustangs that are new and old , well not all split screen collectors and there's lots of versions! But that bluetooth smart system sink nav 2, 3 and 4 and now the pop up system no disc , but iv not had a cd in my cars since 2012 !! Im lucky i get new ones alot but not for personal use . I own all the above . The sense is just ok, its like an in-between watch , like the fitbit Surge went and the fitbit Blaze came in, I didn't like that so got a Samsung offering good looking real smart watch  but crap compared to fit bit surge . Then the iconic came out done loved it, now the Sense is out and it fells like a friday afternoon job no really good changes . Just waterproof everything else that works in the Sense was in the iconic . And its not very strong if you knock the iconic on something no worries,  this will brake i reckon.  Get rid of the stress thing as it has to ask you how you feel as it doesn't know.  Get rid of the phone bit as you have to have you phone with you ,  pointless . Get rid alxa as you will google it, as you have to have you phone with you . And the blood oxygen setting is very inaccurate.  And get rid of the music as you will listen to that with your phone as you have to have it with you , and your head phones will answer your calls . Now an apple watch will connect to you head set and stream music from your phone 10 20 or 100 or more miles away no phone required, and you can make calls.  With out you phone leave it at home swim and take a call ride take a call and link the Bluetooth from watch to car or head set . I hike and do 8 to15 mile walks . And i do listen to audible or music two fuse ankles from climbing left foot is  ok only 2 bolts . right foot is  recovering with 8 bolts in . I will never run i ride but in Dorset i go on old train tracks for miles and miles 26 + then a bit of road then track or heathland no roads  for miles lucky so head phone if I'm on my own . Or new forest.  Sense is not where it should be for there top watch .the competition is better . All but battery life .Sent from Samsung Mobile on O2

Its a nice watch but the Ionic is better for storing and playing your own music,  the Sense requires you pay for a premium app to play music,  can't get anything right!

Not an upgrade at all!  The Sense is limited to what it can do.   You cannot get spo2 levels on the  fly its used for sleep and you only get a  baseline.   The speaker is only good for taking calls and that's it.  You can't transfer your own personal music you have to pay for a premium subscription to get music.   The best watch between the Sense and Ionic is the Ionic!  Hands down.

@Jackolio The Ionic doesn't have EDA Scan, ECG, skin temperature, Google or Alexa Assistant nor mic/speaker for calls. Might not be features you care for but it's still what the Sense and now Charge 5 have over the Iconic. I don't care for stored music because I bring my phone for that. The Ionic does have a recall.

I see we can agree that the Ionic is still a much better product then.   I have never had a problem with mine,  if there wasn't a recall I would still be using mine.  I like the looks and functionality better than the Sense.

Maybe you like carrying a phone when you're exercising?  I think all the new items you mentioned are half **ahem** apps that aren't even fully functional.   Ionic is still the best of the two.

I'm just waiting  for a  new model, iv had fit bit top model watches since they started,  I just want a sport watch , I don't want alexa or music,  I can do that on my phone . It needs to  e water proof and have a good battery life , if I do an activity it eat the battery,  or stops monitoring your walk or ride or swim , it nothing special anymore,  apple watch dose loads and makes calls a you don't need the phone with you , I don't know how . Garmin recharges while you where it . The watch will not connected to others devices like my bike gps where others do . And no buttons is a real pain it's not a good watch very dated now . Sorry but I'm looking to move away from fit bit I think they got it wrong with the design and the tools in the watch , and the fact it won't link to other devices !! Apple watch has a version with phone data which is obviously an extra monthly fee.

Not all Garmin watches charge with you. Just wearing it.

Well when I work out at home my phone is off to the side and I use a smart speaker for music. Even when I lived in an apartment, yes I had my phone on me and wireless headphones. If I ride my bike I have a phone mount. Obviously we have different usage scenarios.

My daughter and my son have them and they do all the bits fit bit offer just better with more information and accuracy.  The catch is you have to have an iPhone 😬 I moved away from apple years ago . But the watch is miles better than the fit bit sence fit bits top watch with built in GPS . And it has buttons,  and your not charged for extras on the watch it's all in but it costs  £600 still cheap for what you get . And I can't understand how you can make and receive calls when your miles away from your phone but you can no cost .its good 👍
