It comes back up when I turn my phone off and then back on, but it doesn't stay. It's driving me crazy@

Hmmm this sounds strange @Lyng52. Usually when you don't see this tile at the top of your dashboard, this means that the tracker is either not paired to your account or that you have possibly created a new account by mistake in which the tracker is not paired or also it can be that you're using MobileTrack instead of your tracker to track your steps.
This is what I would recommend:
-Log out of the app by tapping on the "Account" tab at the bottom right corner. Then scroll down to Log Out of App and log back in with the correct email address and password.
-If the tracker doesn't seem to be paired after logging back in, try to set up your tracker as a new device by going to the "Account" section again and at the top you will see the option that says "Set up a new device" and just follow the on screen instructions.
Hope this gets you back on track and if you need more help with this, let me know and I'll be glad to help! 🙂

I never had a "tile" for battery indicator. I go to settings (the little gear symbol at the top right) to see my battery level.

Hey @rebel3217. Good to see you around! 🙂
The battery symbol will appear if you're using the app on your phone. If you're using a computer and are looking at your online dashboard, you will see the gear icon at the top right corner as seen below:
Now when you are using the Fitbit app on a mobile device, it should look something like this:
Hope this clears out your doubt... Anything else, let me know. I'll be glad to help! 🙂

The new app is horrible, besides needing to go to another tab to see mt fitbit battery level and connection status. The sync also seem to be working poorly. Hopefully in teh next release(within a week PLEASE) they will get these things straightened out.. It is just better to se everything on one page and have a nice flow to the operation.....

@Scouf Welcome to the Fitbit Community! What do you mean by synchronization state? If you are having prolmes syncing your tracker; follow all of these syncing troubleshooting steps for iOS devices. It should sync after doing that!
Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for your response.
There is no problem of synchro, just the fact we can not see the state of the process (cherching, synchonizing or connected), so we don't know, when looking on the dashboard page, if the data are updated and if we leave the page before or after the end of the synchro.
Regards.

oh okay. Sometimes when people post questions it's not clear if they're talking about the phone app or computer. I thought they were talking about the Dashboard on the computer.

It's pretty disappointing how Fitbit has obviously released a bad update of the iOS Fitbit Connect app again. When will we get an acknowledgement and action plan?
Problem is being discussed in at least these threads:

I'm not sure the solution is a permanent solution. Today my iPhone display is back to where the Sync portion is on another tab, sigh.

Am I the only person who hates the new Dashboard in latest (April 2016) IOS update? The sync progress bar is gone and I miss it. I also miss having my Fitbit device listed on the Dashboard but that's not a biggie. I miss the progress bar much more. Is there an editing function that can bring it back?
