Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

@Beezy1978  A search of the forums would reveal that the notification has existed since ios 10! It existed in ios 11 and 12 as well.  So 13 is no surprise.

Here is one such link, but there are better links with more posts pertaining to the issue in 10,11,12 and 13:

https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Blaze/iOS-10-beta-notifications/m-p/1550400

I'm just not sure how people can blame Apple in this scenario. It's kind of like when people run out gas while driving.  Do you blame chevy, toyota, or bmw if you ran out gas? Or is it your fault for not filling up? Had Fitbit paid a little more attention to user feedback back in ios10 or maybe even when Apple released the beta back in June they wouldn't be here right now.

The question really should be why didn't Fitbit pay attention when the low fuel indicator light came on? Technically that indicator light came on when Apple gave all developers access to the beta 3 months before ios 13.  Some developers opted to fill up and some thought that they had that extra mile.  Now Fitbit appears to be on the on the side of the road.

Did everything 4 times now- nothing, it is now a worthless device.  No one has a solution, nothing works, no end in site and no help in customer service.

I have tried all of these steps multiple times daily for the past 4 days and the Charge 3 will still not pair with my iPhone 6S (iOS 13.3). It will sync but “All Day Sync” will not stay on. I repeatedly try to pair them and get the failure notice each time.

I just received this as a Christmas gift and am about to return it.

Go to settings, then to notifications. Then go to messages and under previews change it to when unlocked. Yes it will show your messages on your phone but it made my messages show back up on my Fitbit. So I’m willing to do it until they fix the issue. I hope it works for you!

Well folks... interestingly enough.. I completely removed the Fitbit from
my phone and did a factory reset to give it to my daughter ( I had enough -
bought the Apple Watch ).
She set it up and it works!!! She too has an iPhone soooo, I don’t know
🤷‍:female_sign:
BEYOND FRUSTRATING!!! Going into the privacy settings with the motion and
fitness was a good tip and the notification settings with the previews was
also a good tip that I didn’t get to try. Hope you all do get somewhere...
I much prefer the versa but the help support really sucks. If it wasn’t for
other people posting.. I’d just be waiting and waiting... GOOD LUCK.

Does your wrist continue to vibrate after you’ve answered?🤣 Ours does you wouldn’t think that’s as annoying as it is... makes me hostile.

I have complete all the steps listed and receive text notification for an hour or two.  Then back to the same thing.  No text message.  I would have never bought the Charge 3 if I knew it wasn’t going to work correctly for very long.  I’ve had it less then a year.  What is Fitbit doing to fix this permanently?

Fitbit has had over 2 months to fix the problem! Before “13” they had thousands of loyal customers, now Apple that have thousands of new customers. That’s what happens when a product you have repeatedly bought for yourself and others let’s you down and does not appear to care.

Tried everything...... not receiving notifications

I’ve done every. single. thing. Multiple times over and over and over and none of it works. I even completely removed my device and went through the whole initial set up process, nothing. Incoming phone call is the only notification I receive on my device at this point. No messages, no calendar events, nothing. So irritating.

The steps that was carefully written and asked your customers to follow still does not work. This is ridiculous. It was working fine until my phone updated. Now fit bit can’t even keep up with technology and that was so called the design.

Is this saying that the only way for Fitbit to show text messages is to have the text preview (which shows the entire message in the alert) turned on on the iPhone? For privacy I do not like to have the iPhone notification show the content of the text. I only want it to show the pop up of who texted. The only way I can see the texts on my Fitbit is if I set it to show the entire text on the notification on my iPhone and that’s not okay with me. Is this a temporary glitch or will it always be that way? I won’t keep the Fitbit if that’s the only iPhone setting that will allow notifications to show on the Fitbit

Did you return it?  I’m taking mine back tomorrow.

Which Fitbit do you have? It isn’t just one feature that doesn’t work. Mine won’t stay connected at all. I wanted it partly because of the vibration when I receive a phone call since it’s on silent all day at work.  No weather, no notifications of any kind.

Will not receive any “message” notifications. Just phone calls. Tried this list a few times at least! Rebooted everything, did all the settings etc. still nothing for my notifications
