Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

This worked for me too (message 938).  I tried the original instructions multiple times but this tells you to remove from both systems simultaneously - I followed to the letter and it worked.

Thanks for taking the time to post your fix

Would you mind posting the steps you followed?  I tried and have been unsuccessful so must’ve done something incorrectly.  Thank you!

Agreed!  I have iOS 12.1 and a Charge 2 with no notifications since the beginning of the month.  It looks like this was an issue from before iOS 13!  There is another thread from 6/2019 about it. SIGH

I just got my Versa today and am not getting notifications.  I’ve run through this  troubleshooting checklist multiple times with no luck making it work.  Nothing giving me trouble in the steps, nothing unusual...just wont get them.

Still not working my husband and I both have tried every single step and gone through all the trouble shooting three times.

Hi, after my Versa 2 stopped sending notifications again (tried reconnecting few times a day and it would only work for short period and disconnect again) I gave up on Fitbit and trying to get my money back now. The watch is not fit for purpose if it doesn’t work with the phones they star it does. So I’d like to get my money back. I’ve been waiting long enough for them to sort the issue out. I haven’t paid £200 for something which sometimes works sometimes doesn’t... unfortunately I bought my watch through the retailer, so will have to try and return it there.

I have spent HOURS upon HOURS on this and I am still not receiving notifications.  I am too old to deal with this.  There are OVER 1000 posts and yet this still isn't fixed.  WHY?  I have had my Versa Lite for only 23 days and have been dealing with this for over a week now.

This is the post I followed to the letter after following the original instructions (which didn't work).  Notifications are still working so far.  Fingers crossed!

I got to the step to restart my Fitbit and now I only have the Fitbit logo and can’t get it to do anything else. I have tried a reset. I have read all sorts of stuff online. I have disconnected my Fitbit from my account and now my phone can’t find it via Bluetooth because it says it isn’t on. Frustrated! I use this everyday.

Finally! This worked for me, but I do NOT like had I had to turn on previews for texts on my phone. Previously it would just say ”text” or “iMessage” with the sender’s name on my phone while displaying the name & text on my Fitbit. Best solution now is “when unlocked.” At least I’m getting buzzed when I have texts again. Thanks!

I have tried these steps multiple times.  Where I get hung up is when trying to pair the device with my phone.  It always fails.  The stats work, I just can’t get text or incoming call notifications.  Those are the main reasons I bought this particular tracker!  Are there any solutions?
