Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I have been trying these steps off and on for over a month now. It does not stick. I keep having to redo it. That should not be. I have to tell you I will not recommend this product to anyone nor will I purchase another one at this point and this is my 4th fitbit I believe.

It would be really nice if you included that it might be needed to reset the Iphone "settings".   This worked for me after trying everything you suggest did not work.  Only works with notifications "when unlocked".

Keep up the good work!!

I've tried all of this and still not getting notifications on my Fitbit.  Is Fitbit doing anything to correct this issue or are we all just expected to live with it - or buy a newer more expensive Fitbit?  All of my settings are set per KateFitbit's instructions, and I've restarted and synced about a hundred times, but it's still not working.

my issue is that only half the messages in my challenges are showing up- for example step goal complete. Three cheers for (and that’s where it end) the iMessages from the challenge members show up. I’ve tried all the solutions you’ve provided, my iPhone is up to date, my versa and app are as well.

I have been trying for MONTHS now and nothing’s worked. I have tried once a week, every week to get this fixed and it hasn’t worked. The notifications I get are from my Ring Doorbell app, calendar alerts (sporadic) and my Fitbit notifies me that I have an “Active Call”. I’m still not getting any text or call alerts. Short of buying a new one, this is honestly getting ridiculous! Help please!

I have followed all step and updated everything. Still cannot receive call or text notifications. Extremely frustrated and tempted to return my Fitbit

I could not agree more about how frustrating this is!  It has been months since the  notifications have worked and the set that supposedly fix the problem don’t work!  I will just buy an Apple Watch next time! This is ridiculous that Fitbit can’t fix the problem!

I tried all the steps and still no results. My Charge 3 notifies me when I receive a phone calls but no text messages. I noticed in the Fitbit app under Notifications  -> App Notifications, Messages wasn't an option. What is going on here?

I recently came back to Fitbit and am HIGHLY disappointed and annoyed that my Versa 2 doesn't work properly with my iphone!  I paid a lot of money for this product and for it to not fully function is unacceptable!  What is Fitbit doing to resolve this?  I've had my watch for 3 weeks now and every day I try these steps and nothing works!  No texts, no calls, no calendar reminders.... NOTHING!  All systems are up to date.

I feel at this point Fitbit should give me my money back for a faulty product.  There is no excuse for this not to work!

here here and whats worse is that fitbit is not even responding to these texts from a lot of angry frustrated people. my versa 2 started off working great i could speak my replies to my texts on my watch. now it has been weeks that it does not work.

yo fitbit where are you with solutions this is pathetic! and by the way we peopke are the ones that can destroy your reputation. i have never been so ticked!

I’ve filled all of these instructions multiple times, EACH TIME it’s updated and its still now working. Everything is up to date, Bluetooth on and connected (I’ve even taking things off my Bluetooth so that it’s only my Fitbit), notification settings set to always on, I’ve gone into Fitbit notifications and set everything to always on/show and ITS STILL NOT WORKING. At this point it seems like a developers issues on Fitbit's end or iPhone is purposefully making it so Fitbit can’t receive messages. If that’s the case please just say it so I can move on.

I’m getting random numbers notifying on my charge 2 after updating to an iPhone 11. Sometimes it’s 1 number. Other times it’s a series of numbers counting up. My watch is buzzing the whole time. There is a symbol, to the left of the number, that looks like a square with 2 spikes on top. One spike on the left upper corner and one spike in the right upper corner. ??

Absolutely still not working after following the instructions to the letter.  I had a temporary connection, rebooted the phone as instructed, and it won't re-connect.  I've been down the reboot/reconnect/turn off/turn on path about a dozen times.

Any additional instructions before I return for a refund?
