Alta Notifications

Alta comes with the ability to set up and receive call, text, and calendar notifications on iOS and Android.

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the Screen Shot 2016-03-08 at 11.29.29 AM.pngcontent of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Alta, please see this help page

  • How do I set up call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?
  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby!
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile Dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap "Notifications" (iOS) or "Call and Text Notifications (Android) and then turn on call/text/calendar notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, check out the list of Bluetooth connected devices on your mobile device. Your Alta should appear.
  • How do I view call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?

You can view your notifications when they come in by using Quick View or by double-tapping the Alta where the band and tracker meet.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or selected 3rd party app on Android.
  • Windows Phones do not support alerts at this time.

It's been at LEAST 2 months since I began looking for a forum like this
where this problem occurs. , I knew it couldn't be JUST me.., and sure

Funny thing is mine alta worked with the text messages., then just stopped
and began showing only the message icon and the word message... wow that's
informational...said no one ever.
Thank you for getting out the word, yetc again to them. We can hope for
change.

Thank you but I have already tried those troubleshooting steps as well as
everything else I could search on and no luck. I have already contacted
support and they indicated it was a known issue and that it may be fixed by
two days ago. If it is not going to work just say it. Dont treat us like
fools while fitbit scrambles for answers.

Hi everyone,

I never got a response to my post on this thread, so I posted in a new thread ("Alta not receiving notifications") and got these replies. I haven't had any trouble with my Alta since. I hope it helps someone, if you haven't tried this already. (Don't shoot the messenger Smiley Very Happy).

hi there i spoke with the help Center and apparently if you have message
and message + the alta works with the message. be sure to change on her
phone settings (to reflect message, not message+) message plus is a 3rd
party and change on the alta.
settings.

Now mine works!

good luck

that made me laugh until I was frustrated. I spoke with 3 techs and the
last one is the only one that had me change my message choice etc. just be
sure to change on phone settings and your alta choice.

hope it works.

I was having the same problem where I was getting call notifications  and calendar alerts but not text message notifications.  Be sure in your notification settings that you have  "allow notifications" andshow in lock screen" both green and active!  Now it works perfectly for me!

I am not receving any texts on my fitbit alta.  It does not vibrate and it does not show them .  It had been working properly but i'm not sure if it has worked since the 101 update.

I have done a restart.  I have put all the notifications on and still nothing.  Can anyone please, please, walk me thru the steps.  I am not technically inclined so I need step by step instructions please.  Thank you.

Thanks. Those are android instructions. I'm on an iPhone 6S Plus. And have the latest update.

These are my notification setting in both locations (iOS and Fitbit app)

I am getting calendar and phone alerts just fine. But not (and never) text alerts.

I use the native iOS app for text. IMG_3591.PNG

Why do I have to enable my notifications every day? If I don't, then I don't receive them.

Thanks!

Please help! I have tried everything to get my Alta to receive text notifications, it used to, then just suddenly stopped. The vibrate function works for calls, calendar, reminders, just not texts. I have done everything imaginable and read through all the forum's ... any ideas? Fitbit customer 'support' have been no help at all, I just go round in email circles with them 😞 Getting a bit ticked off!

@littlepaws I recommend updating your app to the latest version, 2.42. Once you've successfully updated, turn the notifications off and go through the notifications setup process again.

HI I have been having problems receiving text notification from my Alta. I'm using Huawei Mate 7, could you tell me how to turn on the text notification please? I have been on the notification page on Alta and I've selected contacts as my default messaging app. My Call notifications is working fine. Thanks

My Alta is connected to my Bluetooth. I have had notifications before but they are not working now and haven't for sometime. When I hit notifications on the Fitbit app, it only spins and "thinks" about it. I've tried numerous times and it will not do anything but "think" about it. Any help?
