Alta comes with the ability to set up and receive call, text, and calendar notifications on iOS and Android.

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the Screen Shot 2016-03-08 at 11.29.29 AM.pngcontent of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Alta, please see this help page

  • How do I set up call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?
  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby!
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile Dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap "Notifications" (iOS) or "Call and Text Notifications (Android) and then turn on call/text/calendar notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, check out the list of Bluetooth connected devices on your mobile device. Your Alta should appear.
  • How do I view call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?

You can view your notifications when they come in by using Quick View or by double-tapping the Alta where the band and tracker meet.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or selected 3rd party app on Android.
  • Windows Phones do not support alerts at this time.

Where is the message+ located?

So if you just go to your notifications on your mobile app, once you select the messaging tab just change the selected default once, then back to the one you want as default and it will ask you if you want , just notification or text and sender. select text and sender and thats should work

Hi - My Alta is almost a year old. I've had no problems receiving text and call notifications in the past, but for the last few days I am no longer receiving notifications. I am also no longer receiving notifications to complete my hourly goal. Nothing has changed in my settings...any advice on how to fix this? Could there be something wrong with the Fitbit itself that it isn't buzzing at all? Thanks!

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. Do you know when this device will be on the accepted devices list so I can read my messages on my FitBit?

I brought my wife a fit bit altra today as she had a cheapet version smart wrist band. My set it up and realised she can only chose one notification from her social media portfolio... this has turned her off fitbit and wants me to teturn it as her cheaper wrist band at 1/8th of the price can accommodate het needs ... very disappointing considering the band and name .. Regards Karl

My new Alta only notifies me when I get a phone call. No txt or calendar notifications of any kind. I have turned on notifications, turned on Bluetooth, reset my Alta. I have an iPhone 6. What am I missing?

When my Girlfriend got her Alta we tried every avenue with tech support.
Tech Support was useless in resolving this and apparently still is. I cant
speak for IOS but we did find that certain texting apps worked and some
dont. We also found an Android app called Fit Notifications that worked
with the Alta. Again, not sure if it is available in IOS. Tech Support knew
nothing that wasnt in the users guide. They even suggested taking it back
and trying another one which I did but still had the same issue. All wouks
ok now but I will never get another fitbit watch.

Thanks for that app! My Alta's notifications stopped working completely yesterday (yes, I tried everything to get it working again!) and the app seems to have done the trick.

I have been struggling for a few weeks with not getting text notifications on fitbit alta.  I receive phone calls, alarms, but not text.  I have tried everything I can find online and customer support to no avail.  I have an iPhone SE.  I have removed the fitbit app from phone and reinstalled.  I have reset fitbit alta, turned Bluetooth on and off as well as 'forget this device'.  Is it the new ios 11?

I've had my Alta for a couple months and have the exact same problem with
no resolution. It was happening long before the new ios update.
Frustrating that we're not getting all the features advertised.

@BeemeupThanks for your response. I used to get all of it on an Android, Samsung Galaxy S4.  I find it weird that I do get the phone and alarms, settings to get moving etc, but NOT text!  Frustrating to say the least.  Besides tracking my activity it is (was) one of my favorite features.  😞

I know how frustrating this is. At one point all I got on my Fitbit was just the Fitbit messages they send you. I had to take mine to Verizon, where I have my phone plan, and they tried everything and they landed up giving me a new Fitbit. There was just something wrong and they couldn’t figure it out so try going to where you have your phone plan and see what they can do for you.

Good luck!!!!!🍀👍

@Fsobon thanks for imput.  While I am a Verizon user (they are my carrier), I got phone through Apple as the rest of family was on an iPhone.  So I could go to Verizon, but I do not think they will help me too much with the phone since I bought through Apple.  I bought through Apple since same price and Verizon did not have locally and would not ship to one of their stores.  I had to be home to sign for the phone to have it delivered to my house.  iPhone has been a pain and disappointment too.

@Zen007  I do not know if LG Q6 is supported.  Please check Compatibility.  Mine is an iphone SE and I am still unable to get text notifications on my fitbit alta.  I get phone, alarm and calendar, but not text.  I have had the fitbit alta for more than a year and had it paired with a Samsung Galaxy S4 and everything worked.  Since getting and iphone SE last month-ish, I am not able to receive text notifications. I have spent many hours trying everything I could find here and by calling fitbit.  So far, no success.  It is disappointing and frustrating.  I would definitely check around if you have not purchased yet.  Good luck!

Hello, I've had a Fitbit Alta for almost a year now. I never had any issues until September when my Alta lost connection to my phone (iPhone 6s). I kept trying to sync and the only way I could sync it back up was to plug it into the charger and push the button 3 times. I've had this problem multiple times since and the only way to sync it back up is to plug it into the charger. This happens every few days. Sometimes it can still sync steps but doesn't alert with phone calls or text messages. I've tried turning off notifications for phone calls, sync, then turn them back on and sync again and it still doesn't work.
