There has been a consistent difficulty with setting up the Aria Air scale since Fitbit moved to Google. When attempting to pair the device, an error occurs. Scale issue.jpg

I had the same issue and received the same response, no email and no update.

You'll just have to forgive me for being blunt here but these scales are all but useless to me... and that's even just getting them set up, which they won't and I probably won't miss spending hours of my life trying to get them to sync, even if they do ever set up.

If things are sold on the basis of "simple" or "easy"... they need to be simple or easy otherwise, they're not fit for purpose. I don't think these scales are and I would urge people to shop around a bit, if you're looking for a working solution to tracking your weight.

This "best answer" is horrible. LizzyFitBit should be embarrassed. I just bought the Aria Air as an upgrade to my Aria from 2015 which no longer connects to my router.  Best Answer seems to be Return This Device! I am so frustrated by this.  How can Fitbit/Google sell something with the key differentiator being the ability to sync with the App and have THAT not work?  And NO Solution for months? WTF!!!

this is as far as I have gotten too

No fix yet. I don’t think this is priority for them 😣

A current bad solution and a potential future solution:

edited to confirm dummy non-google account also works on the phone after resetting the scale.

I spent a good hour talking to customer service today for my weekly checkin. During the phone call I asked if he'd bear with me and I did what some people said was a solution and created a new Fitbit account without merging it to google. The dummy account does pair with the scale on both my phone and iPad.

It’s a stupid solution since I have no intention of loosing data going back to 2015--- but I am getting automatic updates for the first time in like 2 months.

He did say he would pass along that specific information to see if that would help their team find a solution --- I don't know what they'll do with it- but it was nice having someone witness live that the google account seemed to make the biggest difference.

He did mention there is a whole new version of the app coming out in a few days--- not just a basic update.
He encouraged me trying to sync again to my real account at that time.

I know these aren't really "fixes" but it was nice seeing proof that my scale itself is actually working fine and is able to pair and give updates under the right circumstances.

I told them I want a refund for my scale but it has to have been purchased from FitBit and I got mine for Xmas a few years ago. So disappointing

I hope the launch of a new app resolves this.

In fairness, I haven't been with fitbit that long that I couldn't just drop it and use another device and start over. I also tried to log out of fitbit and create a nw (non google) account and that doesn't seem possible now. The issue with these scales has really highlighted just how fragile their system is and I wonder what will fail next.

I made my new Non-google account on the desktop login and after that log into the account on the app by clicking "Sign in with Fitbit" rather than "Sign in with Google."

I don't know if there's a way to make a new non-google account on the app directly as I was talking to customer service when I did it and It was easier to do it on a separate device while talking.

With that said... I really hope the new app launch resolves this. If not I'll be giving them another call sometime next week I guess.
Even though the Non-Google account works I don't want to lose 8 years of health data--- especially this year's data as I've lost about 50 lbs and it would feel a little depressing to see that all disappear.

How did you create a new non Google Fitbit account?

Signout on the desktop and use this link.

https://accounts.fitbit.com/signup?targetUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.fitbit.com%2Flogin%2Ftransferpage%3Fr...

Then log out on the app by going to the settings button on the top left (the gear), scroll to the bottom and say log-out. Then log back in by hitting  "Sign in with Fitbit" rather than "Sign in with Google."

Yeah. I can make the new account without Google but the app on my phone doesn't recognise it when I use 'Login with Fitbit'..
As I say, I don't have 8 years of data to lose here so I can cut my losses easily enough and Fitbit will simply lose a customer.

I do appreciate the information you have provided.

Well dang, I just bought the scale from Amazon and set it up on my Android and it seemed to work.  Went to set up on my wife's and couldn't get it to work.  Tried a reset of the scale and thought I'd add it first to my wife's account, then got the dreaded "something went wrong".  Back to Amazon it goes.

I just downloaded and installed the new Fitbit 4.0 app for iOS.  And it’s still not fixed!!!

“Something went wrong”.

smh!!

It hardly looks like a 'new' app... just some cosmetic tweaks and the process to fail to connect the scales is exactly the same... useless.

It's a sad reflection on the company.

Yup.

Bah- well looks like I get to call Fitbit again.

Hi, I've just received my aria air scale today. I've tried to set it up, but have the same issue. Does it means in the nearly 3 months now and issue still exists?
