Not sure… shouldn’t make a difference where you update from.

I tried over 20 times to update and gave up. The product refused to finish it’s update. My end result was a less dependable functioning product.

Previously I suggested that Fitbit owners should make the world aware via social media of the current and ongoing problems with this product. That plus a few other suggestions had my post censured by the moderator.

I assume this may happen again with this missive.

I updated my Firtbit Charge 5 over a month ago and ever since then I know longer get a sleep score with indications of restless, deep and other sleep modes.  I only see my hours and minutes of sleep.  Is there a way to get the sleep score back?

My Charge 5 started having problems this weekend after the last update as for so many others. Batteri drain which demands that I load my charge 5 several times a day and it does not last one nights sleep even though fully loaded while going to bed. The screen also went black but I managed to fix it after several resets but no progress with the battery drain.

Please Fitbit, if you can’t fix the new update just discard it until you have a working product so we can go back to the last working version.

Still haven't received the update, the battery life is so bad and the the glitching of the GPS is terrible. My wife had the inspire and never had an issue for 3 years. The charge 5 hit the market too soon with too many issues. Is there a replacement coming? or a better fix in the firmware? I love the Charge 5.........when it works.

@SteveCDN  Wouldn't it be nice if the Charge 6 is a firmware update for the Charge 5?

Best Answer
YES it would. That would be great if Fitbit made it right for everyone
with dead trackers.

What is the email address for support? Just noticed too the LED sensor on the inside just stays red which I’m sure is t helping the battery life. Really like a replacement or change to a different model.

That is likely why the Charge5 is on sale at the moment.  For those who are out of warranty, they are offered a 35% discount, but only if they buy older products at original retail list prices.  None of the new products are allowed to be discounted even to the people whose Charge4 and Charge5 devices they bricked and are still damaging with the firmware.  (Both devices are currently being bricked by the most recent firmware and the updates are still out there being pushed by the application even after they know of the problems.)

You can see the same discussions in the Charge4 forum.  Not one bit of official acknowledgement of the firmware bugs that I have seen.

I’m doing my weekly progress report on the issues with the Charge5.

My device went dead and wouldn’t respond after the update.  It still recorded my steps and sleep, in the app on my phone, but my device’s battery would drain in an hour or two.

I contacted customer service, through Twitter.

I went through all of the steps they asked me to and recorded it and sent it to them.

They sent me a new device within 24 hours.

It’s functional, and has been holding a charge for a week.

I did not install the update.

Do not, install the update.

I was fortunate enough I still have warranty. Got a replacement on its way but not optimistic about it holding up.

I made the mistake of applying this 1.171.50 firmware update yesterday.  Today my steps did not reset overnight, the device reboots itself randomly, and the battery is jumping around erratically at various % charged levels.  I've tried all the troubleshooting steps listed on this thread, with the main change being that after I updated my clock face, now the device will not sync at all.  No sequence of reboots, either from the device itself when it is running nor via the charging cable makes any difference to this behavior. The battery will still charge when plugged in, however.

--------

I got the syncing to work again by deleting and re-adding the device to my phone, but the random reboots are still happening.

You're screwed....likely it will eventually die completely and I have yet to see a fix.The good news is contact support on the phone and they will walk you through everything you already tried but in the end you will get a replacement.  Good luck and send a post to all if you do get it fixed.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
