Finally got ahold of support through chat and they are sending me a new ionic since I have extended warranty. Thanks to whoever helped me. But I dont know if the new ionic will hold up to its app and update I just dont trust it anymore. This is the second time for me that it only last for 1 year and change. Im thankful for whoever helped me @ the chat support though. Im printing the shipping label now and returning my old and wait for the new.

My Fitbit completed the update.  It no longer keeps track of steps or heart rate.  I basically have a regular watch.

So like so many others mine 1st stopped picking up GPS, but the rest seemed ok after the update. Logged this and was advised wrongly to make sure my GPS was switched on the phone. Despite carefully expaining I followed all the correct processes and that i did indeed have an Ionic.

Fitbit now have admitted the devise is defective and asked the same questions about ensuring i was out in the open etc etc. Reply was now is completely dead, stuck on 0% battery screen, won't show it charging and certainly won't turn on. As of yet no reply!

Picked up a second hand one on FB marketplace for £40, mint condition and at least 6 updates out of date. OMG all works beautifully and will not be updating until Fitbit have sorted out the problems.

It has now been 4 days since I updated my Ionic to 70.7.27 (about 11pm EST on 5/9/20).  My app is at 3.20.1 (953).  Below is an update of my accounting.

  • Battery - It drained to 10% (I'm not sure if it was 90 or 100% at the end of the update) in the 96 hours.  That's a bit short but it's been that way recently now that it's 8 months old. This does not include any exercise or GPS usage beyond a quick test, but I do use a flashlight app for a few minutes and look at pictures for a minute every night.
  • GPS - I forgot to check before the update.  It does not get signal inside the house which is probably typical.  I got signal outside (shows connected) in 15-30 seconds the first couple days, but it's taking a couple minutes. In a short test, it maps properly.
  • Notifications - Working fine so far.
  • Apps - The few 3rd party and Fitbit apps I use do appear to work fine (or the same) so far.  Spotify asks me to login each use, as it has never kept my login session.  It is flaky keeping up with the song title or whether it's playing.  Philips Hue asks me to connect to the bridge, but it never seems to retain the setup either.  I was able to update pictures in the Easy Pics app.
  • Time - Seems to be tracking along fine when compared to my phone and PC.
  • Heart Rate - Appears to be normal.  My resting heart rate is tracking the same, and things look normal.  I haven't tried a stress test or checked heart rate manually to compare yet.
  • Shut Down - I have only shut down for a few minutes at a time using About-> Shutdown.  It appears to work, as the screen is black and does not respond to anything.  However, the left button press does not turn it back on as the FAQ says; I have to hold left and bottom right to force a restart.  While on, a left and button right button press and hold does properly reboot it.
  • Clock Faces - In "Clocks", the current face shows the thumbnail.  However, swiping to see my other saved faces only shows a title text in place of the thumbnail image.  They are in a different order than what shows in the app.  I am afraid to load one of them for fear of it not working.  Most likely, I'll try deleting them from the app and re-adding them.  After pushing the left back button, it does not go back to the apps screen I was on, it goes to the clock face; all other apps go back to the app list screen where that app was loaded from.
  • Music - Have not tried the stored music files.  Controlling music playing on my phone works fine.

Well here's a nice kick in the teeth, why dont you guys tell me what you think. Very short version: My Ionic also failed since the update, they wanted me to send it back with the return label they provided, No problem glad they asked for it back so they can see whats wrong. Fedex shows delivered, 4 days later they email me saying I didnt send them the correct device, and I should have sent the Ionic. Seriously? I own a blaze which I am wearing and the **ahem** that failed that I sent back and they lost it/mixed it up. I tell them exactly what I sent when who I talked to. They send an email back thanking me for confirming and "they'll get back to me" now on day 5 and yet no unit sent yet. Unreal.

I'm already here a very dissatisfied customer. I paid $415 for my Ionic and Fitbit won't even support me or replace mine. I'm having the same issues as everyone else with the blank screen wont turn on.

I'm still waiting for an email to see if there is any help. Nothing yet. I did a factory reset, but I still can't get past the connection point, its stuck there. Waiting for the battery to die, as this was one trial that someone had luck with. It will take a long time to for it to die while it is not active...so aggrevating

If you are stuck at the connection point, go to Settings in your phone & remove the Ionic from the Bluetooth pairing. Start the set up again and it should work.

New or old most of these devices are just shutting down, so it must be a software problem. This doesn't mean your new watch will be bricked but I would try not to update it or it will eventually end up that way. Goodluck👍 Personally my Ionic is now a very expensive paper weight as I now sport a new Samsung Galaxy Active2 watch, brilliant bit of kit👍👍

Hope for your sake they do. But if it's out of warranty then so far they are only offering 25% off the price of a new Ionic I'm afraid. Fingers crossed for you 🤞🤞

Hugely disappointed in fitbit. After very standard email communication, been offered 25% off a new product after update killed my ionic (gift from my kids).

Simply not good enough. Cannot afford 75% . Self employed PT with no income during lockdown.

If I had the money I would not be investing in a fitbit.

So very disappointed

My Ionic has been bricked for the last year.  I recently heard that Fitbit had rolled out a new firmware and decided to give it another try (btw I tried a hundred times before, months apart, with no success) and all of a sudden the update took and booted up.  Long story short I have already moved on to my Apple Watch and no longer care for Fitbit and their problems.  Anyone wants a working for now Ionic hit me up!

@Gunz1964 Being offered a discount on a new watch when THEY break it is shameless. That's what they did to me. Luckily, my factory reset worked after I completely drained the battery. Otherwise, I would have bought a Garmin. Not a penny more would go to Fitbit, especially after that insulting "offer".

Sorry about the disruption to your income. I hope we get through this sooner than later.

I reluctantly did the update. I made sure my Ionic was charged.

After the update, my fitbit was gone, u tim it came time to charge.

Nothing.

I cleaned the points, I cleaned the rim around the 3 points and still nothing. I plugged into a charger, plugged into a laptop nothing.

My screen just stays dead, it used to come on and indicate it was charging, bow nothing.

Go to Settings on your phone & unpair the tracker from your Bluetooth. Repeat the setup steps and it should connect straight away

Just completed the update last night and I now have no exercise app on my Ionic. How am I supposed to record a workout with no app?

Mine Ionic once depleted battery completely. I thought it was bricked.
However, I learned that a standard charger or computer port does not
provide enough watts to charge it when the battery is fully depleted. I
used an iPad charger, with the Ionic cable attached to that. The higher
power supplied brought it back to life.
