For all my Chats, Challenges & Laughs peeps! Since we can't get on the threads I thought I would start a discussion area for us. We may not be able to keep track of points standings easily but we can still talk.
I miss you!

I was FINALLY able to log in! Spotty cell service and weak hotel WiFi. And I dislike using my phone to post but no alternative this weekend.
4 points for Friday and 3 for Saturday. Baseball in the mid-90s, then a pop-up thunder storm made an interesting day. I drank over 120 oz of water.
Margaret, I hope DD arrived safely.

Saturday = 4 I did better with tracking - got my meals but not ALL the snacks, need track as / before I put the food in my mouth!
We picked DD up around 8:30 last night. She wanted McDonalds for dinner so we obliged. By the time we got home and she shared some pictures with us it was 11:00 - with the time difference, she had been up for over 24 hours - not sure how she was still functioning.
Sherry and Susan, so glad to see you found your way here.

According to the WW scale I was down 1.8 lbs since last week. I couldn't believe it considering all the 50+ point days I had. Since I was so successful improving my sleep habits in June, I've decided to set a more lofty goal for July - to shed weight every week (staying the same would be ok too) each week on the WW scale. In order to do so, I know that I'll need to incorporate several other things - maintaining my workout (exercise class) routine, hitting my step goal more often, tracking my food more consistently (and staying within my WW points budget), drinking at least 64 oz of water each day, and getting between 7 and 7.5 hours of sleep at each night - sounds like I need to get a month of 5's!

No steps really Sat but got a few in tonight. For the first time we walked around our neighborhood - only 19 minutes worth but it is a start. WW weigh-in tomorrow - plan to lose the 2 lbs I gained over the last 2 weeks plus at least 2 more. I have no idea since I am not weighing at all during the week.

So I didn't make it to the gym on Friday but I made my steps 3 times last week. I had no soda or fast food Monday through Friday and got to the gym once. The weekend was much worse, fast food and soda three times.
I am going to concentrate on my Monday through Friday and slowly chip away at doing better on the weekends. Back on it today (coffee and water only). This week I want to get to the gym at least twice and hit my steps three times again.
Let's see if I can do this two weeks in a row. It helps that I showed a loss last week.
Hello @JustSusan and @sherryoglesby so good to "see" you again!

Sorry for being AWOL but the hotel I was in had weak WiFi and little cell service. I spent the weekend watching my grandson's baseball tournament. At times I went with the crowd for meals, but also had some alone time to recover. Good food decisions for the most part and plenty of water as the temperature was in the mid-90s.
With water aerobics this morning, I have had 6 consecutive days with 30 minutes of exercise.
I sent Jan a message a few days ago but haven't heard from her.

Hello Everyone, Thanks Elaine & Margaret for your messages, sorry I didn't respond earlier. I have been very low lately, everything is getting to me. As my brother is no longer working and finding a job here is very difficult especially for the over 50's I have been worried about bills etc. (we live together so he has been the main contributor to our bills as he worked full time and I live on my superannuation). His firm owes him about $20k but as they are in liquidation you have to seek assistance from the government to get this money. Whether he gets the whole amount or indeed any of it is unknown at this stage, it normally takes about four months from when you apply. So, he is just living off savings. He does't qualify for the dole as he has savings and he has this pending payment. The dole here is very bad, $248 per fortnight the same amount as 1994 - 25 years and not pay rise.
I have been feeling unwell as well so this doesn't help. Dad is struggling with his breathing, the oxygen helps a little but not that much. Mum goes for her three monthly maintenance tomorrow so we always worry at this time.
I don't know if you want me to stay in this group as my fitbit is no longer working and I will not replace it until Fitbit reinstates the community groups, which by the looks of it will be never. I still use the app as I have aria scales and they are linked to the app. So, I cannot join challenges.
I have missed everyone, but I feel so disjointed in this alternative environment. I loved our old group it felt like a proper group, here I am not sure if I am replying to the right place.

Yes, Jan, you are replying to the right place! Please stay with or without a fitbit. This is such a supportive group for all of us - some of us are posting our points some not. You don't have to have the fitbit to count water ounces, for logging. Maybe you have a pedometer for tracking steps? Minutes of exercise counts, too. And, or posting - getting out your thoughts can help you and us! So, good to hear from you, Jan. Praying that your brother finds work, you and your parents health improves. Take care.

Lost 3.2 lbs this weight, so that took care of the 2.2 I had gained and another for a new start. Did great until tonight when I ate 6 cookies and double serving of chips. Oh, well, can't go back. Moving ahead!

Jan so glad you found us. I agree with CJ, you are more than welcome to continue posting here with or without a fitbit. I'm sorry to hear about all the issues with you and your family members and will pray for better health for you and your parents and good job prospects for your brother.
CJ - nice job on the weight loss. I like your attitude, you can't change what you did / what happened in the past, you can only learn from it and move on.

@Jan2512 Of course you can stay here! You are going through so much right now the last thing that should happen is you being cut off from a support group! Once you get used to reading the posts in a linear format it becomes easier, just reply to the last post and you're good. My prayers for you and your family!
2 points for yesterday - had some late night pop tarts but everything else was on track - no fast food or soda. Going to the gym tonight.

Can I say that I had jet lag yesterday even if I didn't fly or even leave my time zone? I made it to water aerobics but when I tried to plan my meals for the week, I totally drew a blank. I did buy some groceries, but then drove through McDonald's and took home a grilled chicken sandwich - and fries and a soda. That bad decision made me feel so bad I lounged in my recliner all afternoon and felt even worse.
I'm glad I didn't buy much because our refrigerator bit the dust yesterday afternoon. For lunch today, I put hummus on my turkey sandwich because it was in the same cooler as the turkey. I have a watermelon, cantaloupe, and pineapple on my counter that I will wait a few days to cut up.
Jan, I hope you do hang around even without a Fitbit and although this isn't the best forum for posting. We all get as much from your posts as you hopefully get from ours. I also am praying for your family.
I played golf this morning about 7:30. It was my first time in about 6 years but I didn't do too badly. This is the 7th consecutive day that I've done at least 30 minutes of exercise.

Okay, that seemed to work!
First, Jan, please don't go. You've been such a great friend on our forum that with or without fitbit, we want and need you! I share your frustration with things not working right on fitbit. My MFP - Fitbit hasn't synced my meals in maybe 3 weeks or maybe longer. As an aside, my maps app by the same people (under armor) has stopped syncing distance which is killing my stats on some of their fitness challenges where miles or KM are measured. I feel pretty glum about all of it!
I've been my usual super busy self and due to the loss of fitbit forum accountabililty, have gotten fairly slack on tracking water, sleep or posting. I am still doing pretty good with meals and with trying to get my workout in but syncing issues have caused me to slip a little in those areas too.
Elaine, is it the heat that's wearing you down? I got a little dehydrated on Sunday and it wore me out. I got stupid, sleepy and lazy. I actually bought potato chips and ate 2 servings with (I counted each one) just cuz I suddenly was craving salt. I was too hot to eat much of anything else so I stayed within caloric budget but it's been a long time since I've purchased something so dastardly to keep in my house without my boyfriend or a small party or something to unload it onto!
In other news, the time of my second period with Kyleena has come and gone and I haven't even been spotting in about 5 weeks. I have felt a little crampy at times and a little sleepy at times but compared to my usual period experiences, it's like nothing at all. I'm just super vigilant trying to figure out if/when something might change. I don't want any surprises and the little amount of time I wasn't on the pill in my life, my cycle stretched out to 30/35 days or more so I'm not sure yet. That said, last month I spotted on and off for about 10 days using only about 5 total "regular" tampons and the rest was so light I wasn't even sure it was there or my imagination. It's been so long since I've need something smaller than a Super Plus or Ultra - every hour or 2 😞 -that I actually had to buy some. On the other side, I've had no apparent side effects emerge that would make me question my decision. My mood and appetite and general well being all seem great! The only challenge is having never had children, I'm long rather than round, and therefore it's really far up there. It is recommended that you check your "strings" every month to make sure it's still properly in place but I can't actually feel them and even my doctor commented that it was a little hard for her to get a good look all the way back there. So, I'm encouraged to take a pregnancy test every 2-3 months just to be on the safe side if I don't ever get a period again. The cost savings in pads and tampons and new undies and laundry detergent will way more than cover that expense!
I've become a little frustrated at work - just a lot of people being pulled in a lot of directions that things are a little tense right now. Nothing is really wrong, it's just not really right at the moment and the travel is making me a bit weary. I've had 4 bad experiences in 2 weeks where I worked super hard and someone else dropped a ball that ruined it all. It happens, it just seems like it's hitting me a bit harder than usual.
Meanwhile on the positive side, my boyfriend and I are doing really well. We seem to have reached another stage of closeness since his spring semester ended and his summer began. He's still taking summer classes but they are on-line classes so he doesn't need to be in Richmond and so I've seen a little more of him than usual. I just can't say it enough - I'm so in love!
Other good news, I booked a mini beach vacation - VA Beach. It's about a 3-4 hour drive for us and we are staying in a "cheap" hotel - the Best Western - but at $225 a night! The reason I like the hotel is it's been clean and safe feeling for several years and it's one of the few remaining "old" buildings with beach side balconies and doors that actually open so I can hear the ocean and enjoy time outside in the shade in the afternoon and evening. Most of the newer and more expensive hotels don't have balconies anymore! Being in the business, I know they are a liability but who goes to the beach to sit behind glass! I'm going with my friend Gretchen who lost her job a few months ago. She can't contribute to the room but I'll have more fun if I go with a friend so it's worth it to me to cover the cost solo. She can still pay her share of gas and meals and stuff. Anyway, that's mid-August and I'm ready to be there now!
Last topic - am I the only one getting friend requests from a lot of men on fitbit? I tend to accept all requests on all media and especially on fitbit where I was hoping to get more challenge invites - particularly on weekend challenges. But then after friending me, not only do they not invite me to a challenge, they then send a stupid message like "hi." and then an hour or day later "hello" and it continues like that with nothing much to say and even if I don't respond, they keep it up. Nothing fitness related, no challenges, just lame greetings. I've made a lot of friends on fitbit that I treasure - both many of you from our group and from some of the challenges with super athletic and already goal weight people - almost all of whom I didn't know and wouldn't have met without fitbit. I hate to start getting more selective but I don't have time for lame conversation with people just for the sake of chatting. No offense but if we don't have something in common and an opportunity to mutually support each others fitness goals, I'm not really interested. I've got plenty of connections through Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and the real world that I don't need someone on fitbit with whom I share nothing other than that. Rant over. I just had to vent I guess!

I seem to only get friend requests from men around my age, so I ignore thinking they are trying to use this as a dating site. I tell myself I'm totally wrong, but I know Hubby would not appreciate my accepting their friendship. I don't want to offend all men, and certainly not Steve (who I haven't seen on here for a while), but it just seems odd.
Tuesday - 3 pts / have not started walking. Hubby has been saying it's too hot or buggy or early or late and so I don't do it either. I really need to be a bit more independent and stop using him as an excuse.

Tuesday = 4 (Posting, exercise, water, tracking)
While I only have one day off from work (in addition to the 4th) it still feels like the week before a vacation so I didn't manage to get to the treadmill workstation. I also really need to put some more effort into preparing my toastmasters ice breaker speech. I'm scheduled to deliver that on Tuesday - any words of wisdom @Katrin ?
I too have been getting friend requests from only men and like @CJ_Here have been ignoring/declining them. When I first got my fitbit and was just learning the ropes, I only accepted friend requests from people I had conversed with and/or "gotten to know" through the activity groups. I'm not on facebook, so the whole virtual friend concept is a bit odd to me - call me old fashioned! Even though I finally started participating in challenges, I find those with people I "know" to be more motivating.
@reszy working a new job doesn't sound lazy to me! Is this a permanent position or a new temporary gig?
@ElaineJ27 I know what you mean about the jet lag feeling - it seems like after long car rides especially if coupled with really hot weather, I get that feeling too. It never occurred to me that it could actually be dehydration causing that feeling. I definitely (intentionally) cut back on my water consumption prior to long car trips, as I swear any other time my bladder can hold a significant amount, but put me in a car and it turns into the size of a walnut that needs to be emptied every 20 minutes.

Hey there... I haven’t been on for a while, I have been attending to my mom’s family business in Greece (via the consulate in NYC).
My husband’s new job has him working from home half the month, and I hate it. He’s such an enabler... bringing home chips, soda and ice cream. The ice cream I can resist, but salty treats are harder for me. The other big thing is that I can’t work during the summer, someone has to attend to the kids... I give them workbooks and reading to do, that takes up 3 hours... half an hour or dualingo and the rest of the day, it’s pool till martial arts time. Hopefully we’ll at least have 8or 9 days to go somewhere this summer.
We also took my oldest to her first Pride parade Sunday. She’s only 12 and a half, but she came out last year and we wanted to show her our support (well- my sister in law and I). I have 5 points from that day.
I have 4 for Monday and 2 for Tuesday (July 2).
