Chats, Challenges & Laughs 2nd home

ANSWERED

For all my Chats, Challenges & Laughs peeps! Since we can't get on the threads I thought I would start a discussion area for us. We may not be able to keep track of points standings easily but we can still talk.

I miss you!

@kdsarge  Points = Posting, logging, water, 30 mins exercise, step goal

Had a great relaxing weekend. Friday they let us off work at 3 (an hour early for me, 2 hours for others), did some home stuff and watched two movies I had recorded after hubby went to bed, Easy A and Soul Surfer. Talk about opposites! Saturday we went to a matinee of Spiderman Far From Home (excellent addition to the Spiderman saga). I had told hubby that I needed to call around to find the birthday gift I wanted for my daughter as I had waited too long and they were sold out on-line. I took a nap and woke up to hear him calling the stores for me, he never does that! He found one and we were able to take a drive to pick it up (and it was on clearance). When we got home we started watching Stranger Things 3, watched 2 episodes then went to bed. Sunday morning we finished the season - again, excellent story!  Did some grocery shopping, did a couple things around the house then went back to Netflix and watched Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. Lots of movies, very little movement.

2 points Friday, 0 Saturday, 0 Sunday.

I have been successful in not having fast food or soda during the week, not so great over the weekend.

Monday - my standard 3 pts (water, posting, logging)

No exercise again today.  Still wheezing / coughing.  Did not go in.  Took some nighttime medicine (about 20 minutes ago) that I hope will help me (and hubby) sleep tonight. If that doesn't work, guess I'll talk to the local pharmacist.  Don't want to go in since I don't have my retirement insurance card (or even an invoice yet) - guess I need to call the insurance agent.

oops looks like I forgot to post yesterday

Sunday = 2 (tracking and posting)

Monday = 4 (exercise, steps, water, tracking)

That's three days in a row of tracking. I'm trying to get a streak going. I've also managed to have a few points left over at the end of the day both Sunday and yesterday - I'm thinking it's the nervous energy I'm feeling as I prepare to give my icebreaker speech today. Before I had decided what to talk about, I couldn't imagine being able to even meet the minimum four minute requirement. Now that the speech is written, I'm finding I have to keep cutting things out to stay within the maximum 6 minute limit.

On the other hand, I need to pay better attention to getting to bed on time. I'm not ready to increase my sleep goal just yet - I need to be more consistent with getting at least 7 hours (and no less than 6 1/2 before I bump that up to 7  1/4 hours - Baby steps.

Taking a page from Margaret and looking at my sleep time (again). My problem is staying up too late for "me" time. I am going to start reigning that in. First step - go to bed by midnight without falling asleep on the couch. Monday - success!

I tried to log in yesterday, but received a privacy error.

I played golf this morning, making this my 14th consecutive day of exercise! I have stayed on my meal plan and tracked all my food. I have also consumed large amounts of water. I'm feeling good and getting things done.

Hello, kd. I think of you when I use Organize Yourself Skinny as you were the one who directed me there.

I also have been working on my sleep pattern. Staying up too late sets me up for bad decisions the next day.

Margaret, good luck with your speech. Catherine's advice sounds spot on.

Hmmm, 'Organize Yourself Skinny' - I'll need to check that out.  Yes, KD, it was awesome hearing from you!  I'll be off here for a few days.  I'm heading out of town and plan not to take my computer.... (I'm already having withdrawal; lol).  Can't wait to get back and read the posts.  Take care all!!!

Great job on the exercise streak Elaine.

Yes Catherine's advice was spot on. I wasn't nearly as nervous getting up to speak yesterday compared to last week. Of course the biggest difference was that last week I did a table topic which means your given a topic or question to answer and need to speak for 1 - 2 minutes on the spot... and the topics are a lot more challenging than what are your plans for the weekend. This week I got to decide what I wanted to talk about and had plenty of time to prepare. It also helped that there are a LOT of people that I know in the group - 2 former bosses, a woman who reported to me 8 or 9 years ago, a former Zumba instructor, some one I did WW with many years ago etc.

While I made it to the gym this morning, I opted to do a cardio workout rather than attend the tabata class. My upper right arm/shoulder have been bothering me and while it felt better after yoga yesterday, I want to baby it for a few days. Initially I thought it might be a pinched nerve but now I'm not so sure. If it's not better by next week, I'll be calling the doctor.

I also think I need to have the alternator replaced in my car. The light came on a couple times this morning but went off again. Not something I want to mess around with. Driving home today without the  A/C and radio on is NOT going to be fun. And it looks like I'll be working from home tomorrow.

I refuse to let these disruptions to my normal routine, impact my eating choices. I will not stress eat, I will not stress eat, I WILL NOT STRESS EAT!

Did not eat fast food, did not drink all my water, did not get to the gym, did not get to bed until 1:20 am.

Only one of the above is a positive thing.

I won't be posting tomorrow as I won't be at work. Today is my daughter's 25th birthday and she's coming in for the weekend. I'm picking her up tomorrow and we are spending the day at the arboretum. Saturday is the Hallmark Christmas ornament debut and a local craft fair. Saturday night she is going to a surprise party for one of her friends (they are one day apart). Sunday she takes the early train back home. I'm so looking forward to our time alone on Friday. It's become a tradition the past couple years to spend her birthday with just the two of us doing something we both enjoy.

@MargaretG139 congrats on your speech going well!

WW weigh in yesterday showed a 4.6 lb loss! I've been doing everything right for a couple of weeks and finally saw results. Golf this morning made 16 consecutive days of exercise. I'm a biy, I will spend a few hours taking quilts to businesses on the town square to display to advertise the upcoming quilt show.

Getting to spend special time with a daughter is priceless. It's a good thing to put things aside and spend this time together.

Margaret, great job on your speech and you have a right to be proud. Public speaking can benefit your life in so many different ways.

I may have gotten my water point too but, I'd need to know how much is missing from the cup I keep at my desk and since I'm working from home today, I can't check that out.

Congrats on the weight loss Elaine. Whatever it is that you are doing, KEEP IT UP!

Celeste, I don't recall who said it a while back, but they suggested rather than focusing on the points not earned, to celebrate those earned. Ever since I've been focusing on what I accomplished rather than what I didn't. That small change in mindset has made a big difference for me. I'm finding I forgive myself for slip-ups more easily, While I still beat myself up, it's not as long or as hard. When I get into a funk, I usually come out of it a little quicker. For me. it's all those little changes that at some point will add up and hopefully make it just a little easier to maintain the results of all my hard work.

Antigioni - don't let those screaming abs discourage you, keep it up and soon they'll be sending you whispers of thanks!

Since hubby wasn't up and since I couldn't find the cable that I needed to connect my work computer into our internet, I took a two mile walk this morning. I still probably won't hit my step goal for the day - who knows though, if it's not too sweltering after work, I may take another two mile walk.

Have a great day all!

Steve, I hope you're better soon. You're usually do active that I can imagine that being sick makes you miserable.

After I posted on Thursday, I came down with a horrible sinus headache - again. It wrecked my plans for the day, so yesterday, I spent about 5 hours delivering quilts around the downtown area to be displayed to advertise the upcoming quilt show. I would leave the sewing center with three or four quilts and walk to places that had agreed to display quilts. My first trip, I had five stores in a row along the South side of the square so I carried five quilts, my notebook, and a handful of brochures. Needless to say, more but smaller loads would have been less wearing on me.

Today is day 18 of my exercise streak! I played golf as soon as the course opened to beat the heat and the crowd. I even parred a par 4 hole!

Now I will be sewing non-stop to get my projects done on time.

After my golf game this morning, I did a sinus rinse (think netti pot). So far, I'm doing okay, so I may have to do that after I've spent time outdoors.

Hope you are feeling better, Steve.

I loved reading up on all of the positive changes people are making and the great suggestions.  Looking at the positives are so important.

So, I'm back home and taking the day to re-group; re-charge.  I went back to the area I lived for nine years prior to moving back up to NE MN.  It was around the Rochester, MN area.  I love Rochester and wished I had more days there.  Instead I had two hours and I spent it all in Hobby Lobby.  Spend time just hanging with daughter / granddaughter; then stop in on two different friends for some girl talk.  Back in time to unpack before our first company at our new home showed up for the weekend.  Two adults and a 4 yr old.  They're out fishing with Hubby while I sit here enjoying the quiet.  I did good with eating while gone but this morning I ate a huge nutted caramel roll that took up more than a day's worth of points so I'll be living on free foods the rest of today, but that's OK - it was worth it!

Tuesday - I hit my steps so 4 pts; Wed, Thurs & Fri - 2 pts each.
