Yes, the messaging app needs permission to send notifications to the phone.

The Fitbit app needs permission to read these notifications.

The Fitbit app needs permission to send the notifications to the tracker.

There is two links ito the help docs in my post above, one of the links gives detail instructions on setting up notifications. Simply choose your phone type.

Hello everyone. Sorry to hear that you aren't getting your notifications on your Charge 2. Please do check the links that @Rich_Laue has shared as they have helpful information that will definitely will help you get back on track. Check that you have a compatible mobile device. After this you can try going to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there. Restart your phone and restart your device. After this try syncing them. Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.

Let me know how it goes!

Hey no you can do it with any Android I have a simple cri ket Android phone you have to pair your Bluetooth sync it for messages and make sure all of your notification alerts are on under the Fitbit app. The only thing that sucks is everytime you recharge your Fitbit or turn off your Bluetooth or mess with it you have to pair it all over again you also have to make sure notification is turned on on the actual watch.

@Vinnyortizz1616 I'm not following you when you say that you have to pair the Bluetooth on the phone.

The Charge 2, like all fitbits, uses low energy Bluetooth and the user is unable to pair the Charge 3 to the phones Bluetooth, doing so well keep the Fitbit app from finding the tracker.

This pairing must be done by the app. On Android the app asks for permission to connect the tracker.

What I did to receive my messages again was google search Fitbit version 2.95 and reinstalled the old version. Its not a fix to the update but I am able to receive calls and my messages scroll under the senders name now.

Hi MarreFitbit,

I'm currently having the same problem with my charge 2, I followed your instructions, however #4 says: Check the box for Fitbit Notification Service, I don't have that box on my notifications tab, am I missing something?Notifications.JPG

Hello @Crob50 the screen shot you have is of the web and the settings to receive notifications (friend requests, battery level, etc) from Fitbit to your phone or email. This is not for notifications to your Charge 2 which have to be setup through the Fitbit app on the phone.

Let's open the Fitbit app, go to your tracker settings

Tap the three dots in the top right. If it says enable notifications, then please do tap this. If it says disable I would also tap then tap to enable. If your asked for any permissions, please agree to them.

I have all the settings correct on my Fitbit Charge 2 but still only get the sender's name only when I get a text. The test messages are not showing at all, only sender's name. How can I fix this? When I click on Help it says Fitbit.com failure to connect.

I would check permissions on your unknown phone @Camarogirl2019. Do messages show up on the phones lock screen the way you want them?

I have changed the notifications about 10 times now today and the only option I see is for text but even the text doesn't work.  What am I doing wrong?
