Fitbit Versa water damage

So I have had my Fitbit Versa since June 2018 and I've done absolutely everything with it from showering  to swimming in the ocean. Everything was fine until yesterday. I went swimming and it seemed the battery died during my swim, which is normal since I forget to charge it at times, I dried it off and plugged it in to charge, it wouldn't turn on for a few hours. After a few hours it turned on but would only stay on while plugged into its charging point. If I took it out of the charger,  the fitbit logo appears and I can't do anything with it .Also the battery is jumping from 99% to 26% and back. What should I do?

Hello. Have you tried contacting Fitbit directly for assistance? They may
be able to help.

Each time I have contacted them they have been very helpful. I purchased
mine directly from Fitbit so I am not sure how it works if you got it from
a third party.

Hopefully I was able to help a little bit.

Are you a Fitbit employee? All of us bought from Fitbit directly! I’ve had mine replaced 2 times within a year because they just fall apart and take on water. They are not water proof or resistant! They are rubbish. So go back to your corner!

I am not a Fitbit employee and I am not getting paid by them for anything.

I think you may want to rethink how you respond to people when you don't
know them. Just a thought.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give it a try, just been holding on to this junk ever since it crashed on me. Sorry someone jumped down your throat and was rude for no apparent reason.

I am on my second Fitbit Versa.  The first watch was only used in the shower.  It quite after 6 months.  They replaced it at no cost.  The 2nd one I have not worn it in the shower except maybe 3-4 times total over the last couple years.  I wore it in the shower last week and it immediately glitched.  They are not water resistant let alone water proof.  I am not even going to request a replacement due to the timeframe I've had this one.  I regret getting in the shower with it that's for sure.  I don't recommend anyone wearing in water in any capacity.

Condensation at the sensors of Versa 2Condensation at the sensors of Versa 2

I too was on my replacement Versa 2, when it died after a swim. The first was replaced due to "water damage", and I used my replaced and current Versa 2 - to track swimming, as it is advertised to.

The only difference is that my Versa 2 is now out of warranty.

Dug a little deeper to find other reports of water damage and read of condensation at the sensors.

Took a photo and there it is - condensation. Wow.

I love the sleep-tracking, the ease of fitbit pay, and need something to track my swims. While Fitbit offers these functions, I am now wary of spending on another fitbit.

I am angry that this is so common - a device that is advertised to track swims, should not be broken through water damage. And considering the cost of a Versa 2, the warranty should cover 3 or more years.

Does anyone have any recommendation of a different swim tracker, that can also track sleep and is more reliable?

The faceplate tends to loosen, I've had to superglue mine back on. That
could have something to do with water or moisture getting in and damaging
the circuits. I've seen the inside. They use the thinnest coating of
plastic to prevent water damage. It's ineffective for activewear watches
like these. I don't dare take a shower with mine on. If you take the
faceplate off and use waterproof superglue, it might work, but it will void
the warranty. But then, you probably won't need a warranty anymore. 😜
