Evening Snack Food log designation

As of today "Anytime" was removed as a food log time designation. It appears I wasn't alone using it to record my evening snack items. Its removal means that my food log for dinner is now inaccurate. 5 time desginations aren't enough for a diabetic (3 meals, 3 snacks) and for most people watching their nutrition, evening snacking is a dangerous habit.

So, we have been asking for a fix, explaining our discontent, etc since Wednesday. How do we find out if anyone is even paying attention or if our discussion has even been noted or followed? I don't want to keep my hopes up for something that will never change. And if that is a reality, I need to spend less time complaining and more time looking for another option. Can anyone - maybe Matthew - let me know if any of the people with power are even paying attention?

Please bring back Anytime, and give us Evening Snack, too. I used Anytime to log in all my beverages. Coffee with caffeine as a total for the day, then all non-caffeinated beverages. Because Anytime appeared just above the water log, it helped me to judge my current hydration levels.

I can't believe this latest "improvement" foisted on us by Fitbit. First some background - I have been a Fitbit user since before the beginning, receiving my first device after being on the pre-sale wait list. Over the last 3+ years, I've lost over 90 pounds, and my wife has lost more, with the help of the Fitbit device and web page. In spite of that success, I'm looking for an alternative. Fitbit seems determined to make the web page increasingly less useful. Honestly, it's never been great. I can't use it at all on Chrome (Mac and Linux) because the heavy use of flash eventually causes it to stop displaying graphics. I have to run a second browser (Netscape) just for fitbit's page. Maybe it's time to look at HTML 5? Second, the "database" of foods is a mess. There are so many redundant entries that half the time I can't find what I'm looking for. How hard would it to clean it up? How many entries do we need for a single food item (are "carrots, raw (Wegman's) *really* different from "carrots, raw", or even "carrots"?) I still have an open ticket about the fuzzy search that was just put in place for the "What did you eat?" select list, that has made it next to impossible to find foods that used to just appear (totally unrelated foods appear on the list when you type a word or two.) And I still have meals that I can't delete - support acknowledges that there is a problem, but can't seem to fix it -- the last I heard from them on that was over a year ago. I could go on. My point is, too many "improvements" are in fact just the opposite, not to mention prime-time maintenance and stealth releases. I'm not sure what "problem" removing "anytime" for the list of meal times was supposed to solve, but judging from the outcry it's made a lot of people unhappy. I'm not opposed to change in general, but there has to be some point, some reason, some logic to any change, epecially when it limits the utility of the product. If you are trying to reduce your user base, keep doing what you are doing. In the meantime, if anyone has read this far, if you know of a better device, or a better tracker that will work with the Fitbit device, please let me know. I'm hoping Google Fit will support the Fitbit device. They seem to actually know how to make useful software. Sorry guys, I know you aren't Google, but please, maybe a hiring consultant with some user experience knowledge is in order.

I as well liked the anytime log for evening and after midnight and am greatly disappointed that it is gone. I seem to not be alone in feeling that it needs to be put back or at leaset and evening snack option.

I as well like and used the anytime food log for evening or after midnight snacks.  I very much need and want this log time back

I used the Anytime category in two distinct ways: first, to log food eaten after dinner, before bedtime; and second, to log drinks like coffee that I consume several times throughout the day. It was more convenient to add it under Anytime and simply increment the number of servings, rather than adding it to the log as a separate entry each time. So I would like to have both the Anytime and Evening Snack options. They are really two different concepts.

I also would like the "anytime" option back. I need a little something in the evening.  My trainer has recommended to eat certain times during the day. When that option was available, I was able to plug in my snack.

Yes, the anytime food option needs to be added back!!!

I used that every single day to log any items eaten in the evening after dinner (basically dessert).

I e-mailed fitbit about it and this is the response I received:

As of the last Dashboard update, we’ve removed the “Anytime” option from food logging to be consistent with the mobile food log. We recommend that you kindly log the item as a morning or afternoon snack

That doesn't make any sense!!!  ADD THE ANYTIME FOOD LOG TO THE MOBILE LOG!!!!!!  DON'T TAKE AWAY A FEATURE BEING USED ON THE REGULAR SITE!!!!!

I am fine with either option as long as I have a place to record my evening snacks/desserts.

The suggestion I received from fitbit to record desserts eaten after dinner was to record them as an afternoon snack which is just stupid.

Yess, c'mon Fitbit!  Look at all the responses on this subject PLEASE!

I completely agree on that, adding an "Evening Snack" to substitute "Anytime" is a great idea, we all eat something right before bed, or in my case I go to gym late at night and I need an option to allow me to add the post workout meal at night and before bed.

thanks

Why in the world would FitBit take out the "Anytime" logging option when that was one of the most useful functions of the program? To make it more mobile? What an absolute crock!!! Not everybody out here is a mobile nutcase and they do not give a whit about anything mobile. Bring the "Anytime" logging option back!!!

I don't care what it's called either, but it was an important designation for me, as a diabetic.  Having a snack before bedtime can be an effective way to combat overnight lows.   It can also be helpful for people who have problems sleeping because they have gone to bed hungry.  I've experienced both problems.

We NEED to have the "anytime" snack added back in, or add "evening" snack. Thanks!

We hear you. We're working on bringing the Anytime meal back. In addition, if anyone would be willing to chat a little bit more with our product team about food logging, we'd very much appreciate the chance to learn more. If you're up for it, send me (@SumnerFitbit) a private message. Thanks for all the quick feedback! - Sumner Paine, Product Manager

Please put "anytime" back, or have an "evening snack" option. Having to put any food consumed AFTER dinner, in the DINNER category inflates that meal's calories. Woman Sad:

Please retun the "Anytime" feature to the menu. It completes the

sixth meal selection for the day and most eating plans call for such

a distribution of small meals throughout the day and evening.

My husband is a type 1 diabetic and has a medical need to track his food intake after dinner and before bed. Until the "anytime" option was removed he (and I) used it to log food intake during this time frame.  I purchased the premium website membership so that I could track my food as a function of intake time (among other things) to determine if this correlates with weight and how I feel.

I cannot understand how removing this option helps members that don't use it, or saves Fitbit any money. Please allow those of us that really like and need this option the ability to utilize it.

I agree with bringing back the anytime snack and for the name change to evening snack. I rely on my fitbit one everyday. Thank you

I totally agree with everyone here. If you don't want to call it "anytime", then please do an "evening snack".  It is just like having a morning and afternoon snack option. I am forced to put my evening snack somewhere else, which totally makes that section inaccurate. From a longtime Fit Bit enthuiast and supporter, PLEASE add another category after dinner.

Thank!!

Please bring Anytime back.

I noticed the Anytime going away, and was very surprised. I used it a lot to log items significantly after dinner. An "evening snack" period would be more accurate.

I agree - the anytime or evening snack allows me to log my food more accurately and have a better pciture of my food day.  Please bring back anytime or add eveing snack.

The 6th grouping ("Evening Snack" makes sense as a title to me) definitely needs to come back.  So very short-sighted to have removed it!

Would be cool if you'd let people configure their own personal groups (# and names), but short of that, at least bring back #6 ASAP!

Please PLEASE bring back "Anytime" option!!! Tons of people have various health reasons for needing more time slots per day, and diabetic diet and weight loss surgery are only a couple of them. Why on earth would Fitbit REDUCE the number of great options on a great tool???

Come now people, at least put it back now that you've heard you made a mistake.
