Has the screen dimmed after an update or something? It used to be bad, now it's almost useless.
Normal is ok if I cup my hand over it.
Auto works, but is still really dim in bright light.
Dim is non-existent.
It didn't used to be like this. Been horrible for a few weeks.

There is clearly a problem with the recent firmware update. After I did the update, as others have reported, my screen became dim. I have followed all the restarts that have been posted. It seemed to work at first, then went back to being dim. Now I can't see anything at all! It seems to do the reset as I see the smiley face come up (barely), but still can't see anything when I remove it from the charger. My Fitbit was working just fine before this update. Frustrating!

Thanks for responding Robin. It just stinks since it is still syncing and updating...but I cannot view a darned thing in the tracker. Kind of defeats the purpose!
Good to know it's not just me who is frustrated!

No doubt I am coming into this discussion in the middle and perhaps you've tried what I am about to suggest, but I thought I'd say it anyway.
Reset isn't the issue or a fix.
The issue is the Brightness setting is on "Auto" and adjusts itself to the light intensity around you, or it is set to "Dim". It's possible there is an issue with the formula for the "Auto" option and fitbit shoukd look into that. But for now, try this....
Hopefully, you will be able to view the screen (on your charge 3 even though it is dim) if you go into a very dark room, like a closet. If so, swipe the screen 4 times to the left, until you see the settings icon. Tap the screen. You'll see the word "Brightness". Tap the word Brightness until you see the word "Normal" under it.
I hope this helps.

I've tried that and changing the clock face and it didn't work. Each week it gets worse and today was the first time that I couldn't tell if it was charged up while charging it. My friend has the 2 and has not had any problems like this with it.

Ah, that sucks. I'm sorry I couldn't provide more help.

Too bad only the charge 4 fixes the problem. The 3 should get a fix for that. I was also hoping to use it outside.

Thanks for the suggestion. The problem is that even in a dark room, the screen is so dim, I can't read it.

You can say that there was no change in screen brightness with the recent update, but all these people having the same problem argues otherwise. To me, it suggests that something that was updated inadvertently changed the screen brightness also. I can't see the screen well enough to do any of the "on the device" suggestions.

I have been able to do this, i.e. set the Brightness to "normal." I can then see the screen when in the dark. As soon as I return to a lighted room, I can no longer see it. It's very frustrating.
